Whats the widest size tire you can fit and/or buy for a 15" x 6.5"
wheel?

id throw a 195 on a 6.5" wheel.

you CAN fit 225's on there if you really wanted to, but whats the point. your performance will be half what it shoudl be.

your tires will have the baloon effect, and will have a lot of flex and handel like shit.

6.5 = 195
7 = 205
7.5 = 215
8 = 225

and so on. thats my opinion anyway.

yoyu can and they will fit fine... but you are going to suffer more wobble than you would with the 195

I'm getting a set of 15x6.5 rotas for backup autoX wheels. The tires are going to be hoosier's. Not going to be streeting these at all. I'm going to have 2 sets of slicks and one set of treaded autox tires for rain. The rotas are the group n 15's. Will this be bad for autox?

you'll notice it even more so in race conditions.

think about it..
skylines come with 18x10s and a 255

most ex civics come with a 14x6 and 185

most non-M bmw's come with 16x7 and a 205

it makes sense.

205 millimeters = 8.07086614 inches

so as it is, putting a 205 on a 7" rim is already a 1/2 inch wider on either side.

putting it on a 6.5, and you are in 3/4" wider on each side.
225s, at almost 9" wide on a 6.5" wide wheel is just outright sloppy.

if you want to go a step further- made tite dorifito jdm folks run stupid wide wheels with "thin" tires.

its not uncommon for 18x10's running 225's. it gives the tire more 'stretch' and is thus tighter on the wheel

The bead is narrower than the section width of the tire- more so when you go to taller profiles. A 7 inch wheel is just about perfect for a 205/50/15 tire. I've got my 205/50s squeezed onto 15x6 GSR wheels, and you can see the sidewall leaning in just a tad- ideally, you'd like the sidewall to be vertical.

:yes:

you want this |____|
not this /____\
or this \____/

Great info! Thanks a lot for the advice.

Do you guys remember those wheels that stick out from the fender? Like really wide small wheels with 3 or so inches of wheel/tire sticking out. I've seen a few cars running those at autox, but I don't know where to look for them.
I'm just trying to find the widest tire/wheel combo I can get and still turn the civic.

if you are talking about tires sticking out past the fender, they probably have some type of spacer or lug extenders. you can buy them and what it does will make your tires/wheels stick out farther. they have different sizes. i guess it would give you a better center of gravity, idk.

ohhhhh for my civic i run 205/50/15 wheels this is max without rubbing
