shipping monitor

I got my shipping label today, so i need to send my 30" back to samsung for service.

I have the orig box, but i do not have the packing materials. Mainly, it came with foam "shoulders" where the monitor sat 'flaoting' in the center of the box held in on just the side.

I don't think peanuts is going to suffice.

Pick up some styrofoam blocks or that plastic carbonate shit that is used as a styrofoam replacement and just cut it to form.

wrap the shit out of the 2 ends with enough bubble wrap to hold the center away from the box

Use anything you can in the corners to create that same floating function and then fill in the voids with the packing peanuts. Wrap the monitor first with plastic.

i wrap the whole thing with a shit ton layers of bubble-wrap, and stick it in the box. fill the voids with peanuts.

I usually fold cardboard pieces to push the item away from the actual box. Acts like a shock absorber. Of course, foam blocks would help too and crumbled up newspaper to help keep the item from moving around.

Also, a LOT of bubble wrap works too. I wouldn't really recommend peanuts unless the item is much smaller than the box.

Nah, srsly though, bubble wrap will work. I've shipped monitors in just bubble wrap, but packing peanuts are a good idea too.

Many moons ago I sent in my monstrous 4x cd-r burner for an RMA, and was so scared of it getting damaged further in shipping (I've worked at UPS, I know what goes on in there) that I built a wooden frame and used 8 springs to suspend the burner inside it. No matter which way you bumped it the burner would just wiggle around inside. They actually put it back into the contraption when they sent it back to me. Too bad it died again a few months later.

Newspaper. They're not going to ship it back to you in that box anyway, or even ship you back the same panel. They don't want to keep it either.

from what i can tell, they are going to try to fix it. they don't make this model any more, so i don't think they have stock lying around of it.

Word, wrap it in a few layers of saran wrap, then in an oversive box, spray foam the corners so that it's suspended within the box. Add packing peanuts or those plastic air bags if you're paranoid. Cheapest way IMO.
