So I'm still sort of a noob at all things Honda, and as I was digging through some threads, I came accross one that mentioned a 3rd gear defect in an integra transmission, and I was wondering what the problem was and if the F series trannys had this problem too, cause my 3rd grinds, and if there was a way to fix it. I need to get off my lazy ass and change the gear oil, that might be the whole problem.

Also... (sorry, I'm a PITA.) I'm getting a rubbey grindey noise when I go around right hand turns and sometimes when I engine brake at low rpms. I was thinking CV joint, but the engine braking thing has me second guessing it. Almost sounds like a bearing. The noise is coming from the right side too.

if your third gear works and grinds i doubt changing the tranny oil will do any good 4th gear did the same thing in mine your prob better off getting a new tranny vs the cost of having some one fixing it
 
3rd is always the first to go. But it can sometimes be fixed with fresh oil. There are many different opinions about what oil to put in there, but you can't go wrong with dealership supplied honda manual transmission fluid. Change it and you might be fine for another couple of years.

The guy in the post above me has no fucking clue what he's talking about.

how are you sure i have no clue what i am talking about 4th gear went out in mine jackass and changing the oil didnt do shit and if you want to change your oil try snycromesh it might help
 
you need a 17 mm wrench and you need a 3/8" drive ratchet 17mm is for the fill plug whcih is above the where the cv joint goes in the tranny at and im sure you can figure out where the 3/8" ratchet goes let me know if changing the oil fixes your problem
 
super mega powers son! yeah, crawled around last night and found the drain plug. just gotta put my hands on the fill plug and I'll be good. christ, I feel like 91accrodwyfwurk but im gonna look up the capacity.
