i have a 01 b20z w/ b16 h/i/e and i want some more power, as far as turboing goes i dont know much i was looking for some info on what kinda gains i could expect and what some of my cheapest but most quality options would be, thanks!

What about this has to do with a transmission???

Cheap and quality usually never go hand and hand

Cheap.....Nitrous

Quality...built motor fro N/A or Turbo (which cost more money)

Good luck

i thought that at first to, but i think he is saying he has a b20 with a b16 trans

You have to remember, how fast do you want to go= how much you want to spend. You should put a decent extractors and exhaust system intake pipe and filter and a chipped ecu. Then to spend more high comp pistons, forged rods, 64mm throttle body. If thats not enough ported head with stage 3 cams, springs, ITR LMA's, and after market intake.

Have fun

I wondered but thought it was a B16 head with header intake and exhaust....Frankenstein

But nothing was mentioned about the trans.

I was interested because transmissions and problems interest me (mostly because I seem to be having problems with my B16 trans/clutch lol)

Cheap + quality = do it yourself.

With all stock internals, you could easily push 200-250whp on the B20 with the right turbo setup. I could build it for less than $1k tuned if I wanted, but that's with really good resources and doing pretty much everything on my own.

I do wish I had resources....sadly, I do not.

I know we're not talking about swaps but to see how un-connected i am......

My B16 swap was done by myself (and a friend)....after all the maintenance stuff (timing belt, wtr pmp, clutch, cap/rtr, etc) it was pricey.... $1900 for total swap + $500-600 in maintenance items

Turbo seems expensive for a guy like me (little resources/little cash) after the fuel pump, injectors, worked over ECU, gauges, tune....oh and the turbo system....dang

$1K for a turbo? tuned? Nice....Hook it up!

200-250whp sounds nice too! Heard that was pretty hard with stock b20 and the thin walls...but just what I've heard. But B20's longblocks going for $500 these days....

It is like a sore penis.....you can't beat it!!

The B20 "thin walls" will hold up to 250whp just fine. Most people who bitch are just going cheap and not tuning well- and then they destroy the sleeve. Once they've done that, they blame the block and not the tuning which would have killed a "thick wall" B18 anyway.

$1k to me means this:

not paying for dyno time
not paying for wideband O2 sensor usage
not paying for a chip programmer
not paying for welding manifold / charge pipes / exhaust
not paying for any labor whatsoever
paying under $200 for the turbo
paying under $200 for the manifold
paying under $100 for the injectors (including flow matching)

Not paying for the stuff up top doesn't mean that they don't happen. Get access like that and you can do it reliably under $1k. For what I have access to, I can't share. It took me quite a bit to get there, and the providers don't give it away. ;)

Just the free dyno time and tune is sweet enough hook up.....

We all have our friends and 'hook ups'

I have a friend that owns a skate/snow/wake board shop....used to be sweet to get the newest stuff cheap but my body is all beat up from it all and...well...I'm just an old man lol

But its free. You cant charge for something thats free... thats like.. infringement or something haha.

i wouldnt boost a b16 trans. if you have serious power on those short gears youll be spinning through ever gear dude...ive seen guys eat their lsd's doing it.. non lsd is just outta the question lol
