SOHC VTEC at its best
probably a dumb question but when i get turbo'd am i gonna keep my vtec active? bc if i disable vtec then i'd be running off the normal cams for the most part. the point in turbo'ing with a vtec head is to keep the vtec active right?

lol. what i meant is after i turbo my car i'll still keep vtec enabled, meaning that i'll have vtec still along with the turbo. alot of guys around my area tell me to turn it off when i get it chipped bc it doesn't help any when u turbo it, that is actually restricts airflow. that statement is what doesn't make sense lol.

you CAN have turbo and vtec dude. Just remember to get a good tune and you'll be good..

YES you can have turbo AND vtec. why would you disable a critical engine function? sounds like you need to spend some time reading.

thats why they sell turbo cams.. has the right lift and duration for turbo, but still using vtec

wtf you from cuz, i didnt even think eney body...well if you do that you might as well just go by a F engine then cuz....dosnt make much sence to pay for that ish and not youse it...besides

h22's are better :]

to answer your question yes VTEC can and will likely still be used, serious drag racers (high HP) do in fact disable vtec. I am talking 500+ as it is one less thing to break and the primary lobes are usually aftermarket cams capable of use on that particular setup (there are other reasons do some research). I am personally having a set of cams made (vtec) where I will not be using vtec on a race ported/polished P72 head the vtec lobes will be ground down and the primary lobes will resemble the dur, lift, and adv of a BC turbo cam. i've already built a customer engine using this formula and the motor made 511hp with a gt30turbo/e85. so even though honda lovers love their vtec sometimes you gotta think outside the box.

I lol'd......you go with your fiber reinforced sleeves

wow this post has alot of responses. yeah i didn't say i wasn't going to disable vtec, that would be dumb. i had a few "honda" guys around here tell me that vtec makes ur car slower if u have turbo and i should get it cut off when i get my ecu chipped... i was like 'wtf? how would that make it slower?' yeah turbo + vtec= asswhippings lol.

oh yeah i knew i could have both of them, some of these people around my parts are pretty ignorant, so i try not to talk to them. they are the people that hang out at o reiley's, advanced auto, and auto zone with there $100 dollar wings and stickers and $20 coffee can mufflers that think they know stuff. a few of them do know a little bit, one of them mentioned something about disabling vtec. anyway i was picking up a new axle and oil pan gasket and they stopped and asked me if i was turbo'd bc i have my fmic already installed. and i popped my hood and was showing them everything n they seen i had the single cam vtec and then the smarter of the guys asked me that dumb question. but i've heard it before and that's why i wanted to ask bc i want as much power as safely possible!!!

tooo much money... unless you want 5.25lbs of boostage on stock honda of any kind.

Do you know how vtec works?

More airflow + turbo? how can that be bad.

I mean i have the same setup as you, but my vtec was off when i was dyno'd only because we didnt know it was cut.

But now Vtec + Boost. From experience its a good thing :)

Keep it enabled, or swap out to a non vtec head, cuz having a vtec head and not using vtec is pointless atleast with a single cam.

someone needs to take your internet privileges away. Nothing you said is relevant to this thread.
