:ranting2:So I go to get my new car titled today and they told me that I have to track down the previous owner and get him to re-issue the title and re-transfer it. Apparnetly when we were at the bank Saturday getting the money/title notorized, while I was withdrawing the money, the seller and the notory were busy fucking up my title. The guy signed the title before the notory witnessed it, so the notory made him cross out his signature and re-sign. I saw this and I was assured this was standard protocall. This is NG according to the Title office. Fuckers.

Now I have to track this guy down, and he wont respond to me emails or texts. I hope I'm not fucked. What happens if I can't find this guy? Anyone dealt with this before?:confused::mad:

Shouldn't the BMV/DMV/whatever (because I know everyone will question me over what its called) be able to re-title it?

Edit: I think you may just need the bill of sale.

it all depends on your state... here, titles don't even need to be notorized.

Yea thats what I thought too. Hell the maxima I bought in November didnt have the title notorized.

Here too. No notary in washington.

But at that, yeah you dropped the ball by letting them do that. And if you strike something out on paperwork you can usually initial it and get it by. Shit I did that on my last 3 gun purchases because I suck at paperwork.

Go to the police department, get them to issue a warrant because he sold you a car with a forged title.

I'll bet you'll find the seller that way.

I would try your title again if you have free time.
You went there on a monday, and probably got some dbag in a bad mood.
if you got your story right, and the title is notorized, i would think someone in the office would believe you

also, not sure about your states title, but i hear brake fluid works wonders at removing pen ink from titles
soak the whole thing and let it dry
then just have it resigned
YMMV

i went thru something like that when i got my bike. in PA you need to have the title transfered over and notarized in from of the tag place. I didn't know that and just bought my bike and tried to register it. Basically i had to cry and get really upset and the guy hooked me up. Honestly if he wasn't so nice about it I would have had to track her down.

moral of the story = cry.

I believe the real moral here is boobs + crying = getting what you need or want.

I went to another title office today and had a little better luck. They didn't seem to question the cross-off mark on the title. Unfortunately this place only takes cash. No credit cards or checks (the other place was the total opposite wtf). They directed me to the nearest ATM. I got to the ATM and suprise! No more cash left. By the time I could find a gas station it was past 4:30 and they were closed.

So now I need to go into work early for the third time to try and get this straitened out. I still get to drive 45 min into the boonies risking that it still might not work. The bastard doesn't want to respond to my calls or texts either.

well, at least you had a little success
i would ask them if they understand how a notary works, the laws behind the concept, and then ask for their manager
or just go back to the backwoods office where they don't give a fuck

I've been trying the backwoods thing, and that's the place that's cash only. Went back today and got a hand written sign that said "Sorry closed today" on a piece of printer paper. Another 2 hours of my life down the drain. I'm so glad I pay taxes to fund this BS.

cash only back woods places aren't run on tax dollars. you pay an additional fee that is added by not using a government licensing place.

que?
i think he is going to a gov't place
most states have 2 different types of licensing.

1) government run. paid for by tax dollars. like he said.

2) back woods affiliates that do the processing and add a little bit onto the bill for the service. usually a government joint isn't cash only.

if the only licensing place is 2 hours away, shitty for you. there isnt' a real solid answer on what you can do.
