I've gotten another car to play with. I'd been planning on branching out from my dodge addiction and getting a civic hatch to toy with, but this car came along and I couldn't resist. This won't interest alot of you since this is a honda forum, but a car's a car. This project's a 91 dodge spirit. Came factory turbo with a 5 speed, with an aftermarket fmic installed. Mostly at the moment i'm running around fixing all the Pos f ups. I have it running at 14 psi at the moment, but I like to stay out of the boost until it's back in top shape. Other mods include a bobble strut, full 2.5 in exhaust, adjustable fpr, and a horribly mounted wrx hood scoop, and a 30 dollar ebay lebra i removed the first week I owned the car. Not my thing really.

When I got her she running a little rough. It was tuned rediculously rich. I turned the fuel pressure down alot and i'm very pleased with the results. I've lost a little top end power, but it beats it running in total flood conditions. I (sort of) installed a Hks rfl blow off valve. My dad has a friend at the shop who welded the flange on for me since i don't have any experience welding. He did a fantastic job I think.

I'm only driving it when necessary at the moment as it has a leaking head gasket. But i have a new gasket, and heavy duty bolts on the way. Upon pulling an intake pipe I couldn't help but notice there's some oil getting into the intake from the turbo, so I took it upon myself to order a rebuilt Garrett T3 turbo for it, along with full stainless oil/coolant feed/return lines for it.

Other than that i've fixed little things like new horns, replaced some burnt/frayed wires, and hooked up an a/f gauge and did some tuning. It's running great despite everything. I've had some fun in the car. By july I should have it running smoothly at 18 psi. Anyway on to the pics. For all you photography buffs i took the attached photos with a Canon Rebel T2 film slr. If anyone's in the cincinnati area and can supply film and whatnot I'd be happy to give your car a "professional" photoshoot

Then these with my mom's Kodak digital. Not a terrible camera. I just prefer film whenever I can afford it.

I replaced the shitty blown pioneer cassette deck with a more correct looking one. Analog ftw

could be a sweet sleeper without the scoop.
it definitely could be. That's why I plan on getting rid of it. It's not doing anything other than cooling the valve cover and looking out of place.

at first i thought that was the spirt rt. but good sleeper none the less

Thanks. It does look like one definitely.

would be sweet if you could get a srt-4 motor in there..

It would be, but I'd rather stick with my 2.5. It's got new rod and main bearings, a complete valve job, and new rings. And it's already in the car :) It hits it's power band really early, but is a little lacking in the higher rpms. I'd get a 16 valve chrysler lotus head rather than an srt 4 engine. It'd make about the same, maybe more power and would be easier to install.

tuning....? with an a/f gauge?
interesting concept

welll not so much tuning so much as using gauge assistance to bring the fuel level to a reasonable amount, all the while making sure I don't run lean. I know narrow bands are crap. I'm saving my money for a wide band and egt gauge, but I just blew all my money :(

Good to see you again Budda. What happened with your other Turbo Chrystler/Dodge you were working on? This one looks sweet.

At the last apartment complex I lived at there was a guy with a Dodge Omni GLH, one of the Shelby modified Omnis with a 2.2L I4 Turbo. The car just sat, I never saw him drive it ever. Everytime I saw the guy I tried to get him to sell it but he never would. That car is probably still sitting there in the complex.

It's still sitting. I got frustrated with it so i'm working on other stuff at the moment. I have the wiring harness modified to work and back in. It just needs a starter, and it leaks tranny fluid from one of the axles.

that's a shame. They only made 750 of them. You should go try to get your hands on it. Easy cars to work on.

i bit the bullet and bought a neon today, but gotta wait till tomorrow to pick it up, cuz the lot doesn't accept checks lol..they musta got burned a few times. but hell i got a good deal on it. 2004 neon se for 3000! sweet... and it's fucking mint dude. pics will be up tomorrow. only thing wrong is a crack in the bumper...

btw this does pertain to the thread, cuz me and budda have new dodge's in common. (no bitching about thread jacking plz!)

but hey budda, did that car ever come in an awd cofiguration?

No unfortunately. They were working on an all wheel drive 16 valve turbo daytona, but it lost funding and eventually got scrapped. There's a couple prototypes around but nothing else. I know of a couple people have used all wheel drive systems from caravans on their V6 cars, and a couple rwd turbo 4s were rigged up but no turbo all wheel drive yet.

And i don't see it as thread jacking so much as a matter of fact statement about a similar situation. Neons are pretty sweet cars. I really like the sound of the 2.0 engine. One thing that strikes me as peculiar with the 99+ neons is the power front windows and manual rear windows

yeah my brother has an 04 neon srt-4, and you would think that the srt would have power windows in the rear, but nope...it's just like all the other neons. I like the viper style front seats in them though.

mmm i may need to look into some srt seats... i started a pre-emptive carbon project for the neon. lol don't even have it right here with me yet and i'm getting some stuff ready. for now though im just hooking up the radio a bit and customizing the trim panel around the deck. i'm gonna make a thread soon.

my boy has an 04 neon sxt and he just put the srt4 spoiler and the srt4 sport bumper(not actually srt4)
looks pretty sweet...too bad its an auto...has some ok pickup tho

mines is auto too... but it was only 300 bucks and in awesome condition, so i'm happy with it. i'm in the process of installing a new radio (old was shit and has no SUB OUT!) of course it didnt ya know, but i wanted to thump some tunes, so it now has a sub.

WERD??? I've never seen that.. What models were like this?

I could have sworn i replied yesterday. guess it messed up. But yeah, dodge daytona, shadow, spirit, caravan, omni, charger, 400, 600, plymouth sundance, voyager, acclaim, chrysler lebaron, town and country, new yorker.

I think i may be forgetting a couple. There's even some models that carroll shelby modified.
