Fule pump switch

I wired up a fule pump kill switch but when theres no power to fule pump and u try turning the key it smokes out from the yood.. Is this normal
 
Check your wiring, normally when the pump is unpowered and you try to start it, it just cranks.
 
I think it might be that, because the fule pump wire is yellow with a green stripe and theres two. I cut one and wired it up.. Im thnking mabey im suposto use both?
 
Where did you splice into the hot wire? At the tank, or at the ECU? Also, how did you wire the switch up?
 
i spliced it at the ecu, i cut the one wire, then ran speaker wire to lengthen it to place it somewhere, then i connected it to the switch..
 
Id start by replacin the speaker wire with some good insulated electrical wire. Im not sure what size the factory wire is, but Im guessin its like 16 gauge or so. Id use the same gauge to run to and from the switch. I highly doubt that whats causin the smoke, but its just a good idea change that wire.

Did you even test the wires with a test light or multimeter to see which one received power with the key on? it's difficult to decypher but it sounds like you ran +12v into the chassis and burned something up. i don't understand why you ran a wire all the way out to the fuel pump in the first place though. Their are other wires near the ecu and dash at the front of the vehicle that you could put a switch in between, and use to prevent the car from being started.
 
i didnt run a wire from the fuel pump. i ran it from the ecu.

honestly it doesnt surprise me..this is the same kid that thought the d16a6 was vtec and wanted to know why he didnt have a solenoid on the back of the head..also the one i convinced that he could put an h22 exhaust cam in it to make it hit vtec alot harder..bwahaha

this is a place for help..now if you do not know what the hell you are doing you should atleast ask for advice before you go frying shit..this is why your in the predicament your in.you come on here acting like you know something and in reality you dont.so why dont you show a little more respect there son.because im pretty sure i have the answer to your problem.
