250 Ninja over that one...

The Ninja is a proven name, parts are available anywhere, and I've never had a bad experience with Kawi...

better off buying a 10 year old Ninja 250/500

Why?

you can sell it for what you bought it for.

you can get any part of the bike from any major motorcycle parts place.

Why not?

Kia like resale value,
Parts..... leave near a dealership great, but if not.....................

I've never heard of hyosung, but im with the above concensus. stick with a big name bike. its small name for a reason. like UM. I really wanted one till I found out they put down less power than a damn honda rebel and cost 2x as much.

Werd, my buddy had a hyosung, it blew a tire, and he pretty much had to scrap it, because the TIRE was some unheard of size. Ridiculous.

Not to mention they're just shitty bikes.

To purchase it may not be expensive--but as someone already said, you get what you pay for.

The couple extra bucks for a 250 Ninja will be worth more than the thousands of dollars he will probably have to spend to keep the other bike running and maintained. Reviews on the bike show there are more negative than positive. At least with the Ninja the biggest complaint seems to be that most want a bigger bike.

Again old ninja 250 = 1000-1500 bucks, in a year you can flip it for the same price you paid.

That 250 you want might cost 3500 new, but in a year or two it will be worth what.... 1500?
The only dealership in all of Maryland that has it is called "fun on wheels" =) sounds like a legit bike shop......

Guessing they sell nothing but scooters and Hyosungs

Good starter bike, not much power, pretty much get what you pay for.

Do you know how to ride?
ya i know how to ride been ridin since 12. street and dirt. hardly anyone where i live rides kawi ninjas. ninjas are actually cheaper then hyosung's down here(new). i think the guys who assemble the bikes makes a big difference cuz most feedback here is positive, very reliable, low maintenance, & very accessable parts. Maybe this plays a factor over something like where u guys live where there are hardly any dealerships that carry these bikes, or even any parts as simple as tires(as he said). ^_^
wat are the positives from others experiences?

My tips:

Anything japanese. The bigger brands (for reliability and parts availability)

If you really have been riding dirt and street since the age of 12, get a 600cc. No sense messing around with a 250.. Thats a starter bike. Moped on steroids. Not very powerful steroids at that.

If you look at all the different 600cc jap bikes of the last 10 years, they, year for year, are pretty much carbon copies of each other. So it doesn't so much matter which you end up with. I purchased a CBR 1000rr last year because Its sexy, fits me, bloody fast, and I do have some brand loyalty built up with Honda.

Stay the hell away from buell and harley. Or anything American made for that matter.

well im a guy of safety. i wan't to ride a 250 for a year, maybe two. So i can get the hang of taffic, and the whole all round street riding through the city and wat not. I only have experience around the block and stuff not too far with no traffic. I think this will help me learn so i can get used to it. Thats just me though.

Lol nice find, I'm bidding on it :D just because its where I live....

Yeah that is a good find. Makes me want a 250 now . Can't afford shit right now tho - rent is toooooo high.

EDIT:

Auction is ending in 1:19. Current bid is $2,650. . . . price seems kinds steep considering you can get a brand new one for an extra $400 or so.

The problem is TRYING to get your hands on a new one. Most dealerships are lucky to even be able to keep them on the sales floor for more than a day or two after they come in.

Just be patient. Pick a bike, notify the respective dealer that you want it, and to call you when they get one in.

And what the hell have you been riding for the past 7 years that you feel that you need to "step up" to a 250? We talking about a vespa or something?
