d16a6/d16y8 "mini-me"
Hey guys; I'm doing a homemade turbo setup for my stock a6/y8 mini-me combo. I am just trying to learn about how to do this; price and quality effective. I have the D16a6 block at my local machine shop getting the machining done, then I'll be assembling that as well. Once I get it back I am going to install an oil line bung in the oil pan. This is going to be my first step, but I am curious as to where I should install this bung and what type of gasket and sealant to use. This set-up will not be used right away, I am just preparing all the parts and everything for this build. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I will be posting up a lot of pictures and newly-learned information on this thread as I progress through the stages. Once the block is back I will drill an oil line bung and I'll show before and after pictures. Thanks again and I hope to keep this thread going through to the end.

Turbonetics has directions for thier kit. You should look up there instructions. You can get them on line. They have good info and pics. I put mine at the top of the deepest part of my oil pan. I used a punch and punched a hole it then threaded the hole. Next i jb welded the shit out of the threads on my bung and screwed it in and let it dry. So far it has held up really well. Or you could just weld one on to your oil pan that is the best way if you have access to a welder. Rep me if that helps.

When i built my first home brew kit the only thing that I had a proffessional do was weld the bung in the pan. Cost $50.

I went to an industrial supply shop and bought a 3/8ish bung , and the barbed nipple to screw into it.

Thank you for your reply! What do you mean by a barbed nipple? I can do the welding myself but will the diameter of the adaptor nut matter?. I do not know if I need a larger return line or a smaller return line, or if they even come larger and smaller. I am doing a 7-8psi boost kit for my a6/y8 mini-me in my EF. I have only rebuilt the engine back to stock for durability, will adding boost hurt my car even if I am nice on the throttle most of the time? Thanks again!

sorry if i missed it, but what turbo are u running? that will dictate the necessary fittings and lines. find out. buy an oil line kit accordingly.......(ebay)

also, as i try to recommend to all ppl with novice boost aspirations: check out www.homemadeturbo.com READ READ READ. the guys there are a bit on the fucking rude side, so if u must join and ask a question, u will be flamed......be warned!! but theres everything u need to know about boosting on there. please do yourself a favor and check it out:D

Thank you for the replies guys. As to what SLOWdelawareEG was asking; to be honest bro I do not know which turbo I am going to run. I was hoping this would be the basic starting ground. I am going to be receiving my block and all the parts to put it together this Friday. I figured that while I have the oil pan off I would easily drill a hole in the necessary location on the oil pan before the engine is installed. What kind of setup would you recommend for a homemade D-Series turbo. I only plan to run 6-8psi on this engine because it is bone stock except I am going to be running a "Stage 2" d16y8 camshaft and timing gear. Will fuel needs have to be met? I know I will need the turbo professionally tuned after as well, but will I need to chip it? Thanks again and sorry for the novel.

No problem! I forgot what exactly it is called. I just went in the back of the shop where they stock stuff and picked a few things out.

there's a link to something similar. Get a rubber line that has a really tight fit on it and then hose clamp the shit outta it.
