Hey whats up people, as of right now I'm driving a 1996 Civic Dx Stock w/ a true coilover suspension, had it for about 5-6 years and I'm kinda sick of it and looking to upgrade to a newer model probably 99-2000 for a B18C1 turbo swap I had in mind. My question for those interested in helping is whether or not to go w/ the DX base model (which is what I'm leaning towards) or EX possibly SI, as far as curb weight and such goes and which would be better for this particular application...thanks

why do you want to upgrade to perty much the same car you have 96-00 are all the same besides little things here and there

well the one I have is got a bit of body damage and I don't think it would be worth doing the body work cuz I won't get my money back out of it plus I was considering doing a 99-2000si front end conversion so I figured I would just get a 2000 cuz it would just make my life/wallet a whole lot easier, ya know

yeah i can see that, but i myself would get a 2000 cx hatchback out of those

Keep in mind the fact that the money you put into a Honda no matter how fast or cool it looks you will never get your money back.

I considered that, but I really like coupe look/appearance, plus the the curb weights are the same so...to each his own I guess

Yeah I know that but to do the bodywork and the front end conversion would probably cost about the same as a new 2000 so I think it best to just cut my losses w/ the 96 and start over w/ the 00'

the curb weights w/ the coupe and the hatch are the same...I wouldn't mind having the Si but I have already purchased a B18 and kinda want to use it just because I've already paid for it and the kid I bought it from had it set up nasty! boostin 26lbs puttin 555hp to the wheel of a hatch...

the weight is a 200-300lbs difference depending on model between the hatch and coupe

let me make that more clear dx to dx coupe and hatchback are perty much gonna weigh the same, sometimes the coupe will even weigh less than the hatch, but when your comparing a dx hatch to a ex or si coupe there will be a 2-300lbs difference

I'm pretty sure the DX curb weights are the same on both, but I could be mistaken...and I also considered the 04' 05',but would have to get rid of the $1200 suspension system I got for the 96 so I will probably go 2000 so I can still use because I really like it...so I would have to pay 1200 for the frontend and then get new finders, doors, hood, rear bumber, rear quarter panel, it would cost a fortune!

just sell the car you have now and start on a newer one, you can get the newer si hatches perty cheap now days

Me personally, I would go with the 2000 si. For whatever reason I just love that year. I'm on my 2nd one and as soon as I get this one to where I want to be I'm looking to buy another one for my K20 swap. plus easy to drop another b series motor in

Right right that's what I thought too, so I think the DX coupe would be the best way to go then, light and stylin!

I wouldn't exactly call it "stylin", plus it's going to have drum brakes in the rear, but if you're fine with that, then go for the DX I guess...
