ok i have 1 12 inch audiopipe competition sub 1000w rms 2000w peak and my amp is a pyle:( 1200w rms and 2400w peak......it hits really hard but when i crank my volume up pretty high the bass cuts out and comes back on but it is fine if i turn it down...i was told its because the amp is to high on the gain but i did turn it down and it didnt fix the problem it also has a 3 farad cap and my headlight dim still pretty badly.....any real answers would be great thank you

i know its a pyle but it shouldnt freak out like this

i would say from my experiences with that...alternator, mine did that and it was that the alternator was bad it just couldnt handle that, i bought a bigger alternator and it was fine.
also if you 1200rms on your amp and 1000rms on sub you dont want to turn your gain up all the way anyways....cept since its a lower brand amp the wattage isnt exact

Any led indicators on the amp so you could know whether its the amp shutting down? It could also be a loose wire in the box - you could check for a solid connection (not super loose, but it could short or something weird).

oh yeah and if you have a cheap wiring kit with the big fuses i have had problems with those shorting and just getting loose so i would check that if so

Make sure it is grounded very very well. Make sure the power wire is big enough for the amp, as is the fuse.. Is the amp getting hot and shutting down or is it just cutting instantly when you turn it up? Is the capacitor located near the amp and well connected? Decent capacitor or egay special?

My vote is crappy ground..

Could be a weak battery too, if your headlights are dimming through the capacitor..

My friends dose this all the time! It's the amps peek protector. It's so your amp dosn't blow up. The amp co. put it there for a reson and I don't think you can take it off.

Mine does this a lot especially when its hot outside. The amp is cutting itself off. Time to upgrade it.

PYLE of ????? Its shutting down b/c its overloaded (safety switch) Might be a wiring issue but it seems to be the amp is overloaded and you're trying to get too much out of it. Raise your gain on mid's-high's and just sacrifice some lows.

yep this is what it is!!!! Mine used to do that all the time

sounds like either clipping protection or thermal protection

heres a few things that might help:
turn your gains down
upgrade your wiring
get a better amp

probably thermo....I guess its better then when i was in high school and if you didn't pay attention to your stuff....it would just blow....no shut off....just gone forever lol and head units were $500-1200 for something that controlled a changer and had two pre-outs...if you're lucky

i was going to say clipping but after i read the low voltage im going to have to say you need a better battery. turn the gains down and the bass down to 0 on you head unit. then try it.

when lights dim its time for a stronger battery.

and yes Pyle is the biggest problem you have. Go get a good brand amp man.:D
