so im outside this morning (saturday) washing the truck for Custom Rides For Saving Lives (car show in Mt. Clemens, Michigan for the American Cancer Society), and a local police stops in front of my driveway. he calls me over and asks me if i was just up the street. i told him "no i wasnt. my truck hadnt moved all night". he said that someone reported a yellow truck was going at a high rate of speed on some street. again, i told him "no sir my truck hasnt moved at all this morning". he said ok and was gonna tell me to watch my speed if it was me and that there arent too many yellow trucks in town. i told him thank you and he drove off. so now great, im going to have my truck being watched because some other dumbass in a yellow truck was speeding around town. thank goodness i dont drive my truck much and that it stays locked up in the garage most of the time

Should have told him to feel your engine.. Not that it would have been in line with your rights, but at least he would have known you weren't bullshitting him.

There are about 6-7 different yellow Rangers in town, Brian. "Yellow truck on some street" is fairly vague, besides even if you had been out they have no way of proving its you. NHPD are lazy fuckers. I'm half tempted to call the police department to ask where and when this was reported. At any rate, its BS to go around harassing everyone with a yellow truck for something they can't do anything about unless they catch them in the act anyway.

yea, those harassing bastards. I was put in cuffs just the other day.giggity...but really, it happened.

He has no probable cause to even enter your yard. You don't have to prove anything to him.

Ask him if he ran the registration for "yellow truck" and is going door-to-door giving people warnings, or if he just saw a yellow truck, and thought he found it.

Doesn't matter, tell him he has no right to enter or to just go fuck himself.

either way he'll look out for you that much harder.

I'd rather tell him the truth, nope, not me. Check out my motor, it's not even warm.

Let's not forget about the flawed logic "every yellow truck driver must drive fast, because we got a report of one driving faster than someone would have liked (may have been just doing the speed limit.)"

I don't like cops who are lazy and make flawed assumptions.

Stay off the motorcycles then

You have to also consider the posibility that maybe there wasn't a truck going down the street at a high rate of speed, and he was just fishing for something else......

Like the time I got pulled over for "excessive turn signaling" when I exited a round-about/traffic circle.

That sounds legit to me...cop gets a call on a speeding yellow truck then finds the only one outside and assumes there's a possibility it could've been you based on what he knows.

They'll probably forget all about you.

im not even worrying about it. and yes my truck does stick out not because its yellow AND silver, but it also was fully laid out when i had it outside washing it. its got air bag suspension on it.

maybe its all the bagged stuff I've been seeing runnin around town, but I miss mine. even if it was a pos. I think I've been bitten.

I've had something close to this. In my little town car enthusiasts all know each other very well. But as a whole decided to make a small club, nothing to go out and impress anyone with. Just give our selves a name. Well, police started to take notice that we were making nice little meets in odd and end parking lots, and classified us as a gang. When little jits decided to try to make major impressions upon the town (we still have no clue who did this) and started tagging. We all got a nice bit of attention upon our own homes. One member unknowingly had a officer take several pictures of his car from the streets. I myself took notice in a officer that would sit at the end of my street just barely out of my houses view. But he would only be there when more than 2 cars with the same logo was at my house.
Long story short, we had to shut the club down because of the high attention that some other asshats brought down on us. When your getting pulled just to find out why your in the neighborehood, I believe your getting just a bit too much attention.

Minus the tagging that's stereotyping. You cant harass people for associating. It's in the first amendment. It's one of the major reasons real gangs exist. Hell you guys sound like a modest fraternity at best. Sounds like some bored cops to me.
