I'm not posting this on the local board due to the original thief may be lurking on there, but about 2 months ago my cousin's Civic got stolen out of his driveway(garage in front, two trucks and a sedan blocking two sides and part of the house on the other side). The sedan was dragged out the way but put it back when they got the Civic. We figure it's probably in Gastonia, NC, which has been a huge hot spot for stolen cars.

The motor has some "unique" parts and work with the header and general LS/VTEC setup. Me and my cousin spent a lot of time putting this car together, and is pushing around 190whp with pretty much bolt-ons. Unlike me, he kept records of everything and we also have a lot of pictures of the parts.

So, fast forward to 2 days ago. My cousin stumble upon this: 98 integra ls/vtec built botom end ft only 03 si ep He sends his brother to go look at it; and sure enough, it matches(except VC is painted). Owner says engine isn't running right; which is another BIG giveaway as he's using the stock Integra ECU(vs the RLZ-tuned ECU that was in the Civic). Header is still missing but the guy said he saw it when he traded his EK.

Police raided the house today and the vehicle is now in their possession. The guy didn't want to get arrested so snitched(the car was also under his mom's name). Turns out, our hunch was right; he trade his clean EK for the Integra with a guy in Gastonia. The detective says they have found some cars that have been dumped in the river and buried(the actual Civic still has not been recovered). Anyways, we've provided the detective with the most useful evidence with out own detective work and they already have a suspect they're about to go after. This is the only incident I've been involved with where there has actually been leeway in recovering stolen items.

FYI, this Civic was like #25 or something like that from the local boards that has been stolen in that area since the beginning of the year..

P.S. some of the "unique" things was JB weld and broken header bolts. :-D

Good to hear some progress is being made
Those little skinny tweaker thieves will make Bubba Happy when they get to prison

wish i would have came up on my stuff... brand new PIC coilovers/lcas.. new tires/wheels... i had just dropped $1800 into mine and it disappeared

Surprised the cops did anything about it. I know the ones where I live don't really care about stolen cars.

we hav had 32 honda civics stolen in my area that hav all been modified or tuned in some way and then a week or so later you find the shell sitting on the side of the highway with all the windows smashed in and no tires or rims

my buddy lost his ek hatch with a k20a swap in it this way still hasent found out who did it

We were thinking the same thing. Hell, when you think about it, we did the bulk of the work. Probably cracked the case for dozens of other car thefts.

I'm still waiting who this "big fish" is that they're going after.

At least you guys got the shell back! They're finding stripped Hondas in rivers and buried over here.

the shell wasnt even worth saving most the panels were gone and all the acessories were gone and would cost thousands to get it back to being road worthy

All this makes me glad I garage my car now. Glad to hear the situation was made right.
