The odometer on my 07' GSX-R just rolled (or whatever you'd call a digital readout change) over 5000 miles. Hooray for me! :happydance: I bought the bike with 1 mile and a friend put 6 on it riding it home so at 5007 I hit my personal 5k mark as a rider altogether. Hit the latter mark right in front of a strip club, Think I should go in for the celebration?:D

Before you start with the 5k in more than 2 years crap keep this in mind; I bought the bike in late June of 08' and had to put it up in early October due to the moving process. Got to really pull it out of the garage 1-2 months ago so 5k in 5-6 months puts me at an average of around 830. Not too bad if you ask me.

fuckin nice man congrats. so that would be in all 5000 mile stones... a stone to mark each mile right? isn't that where the word came from? lol i really don't know but now i'm gonna have to research that...

Thanks. Both the bike and I are still in one piece. Statistically speaking thats saying something. I dont know the numbers but a large percentage of sport bikes dont even make it to being fully broken in.
I think youre right on the stones thing. I know Ive heard that somewhere.

5ks not a lot. A lot of sportbikes dont make it there with wrecks and all. But its just kind of a milestone thrown in there with more to come for me personally. Especially since its the ONLY bike I've ever rode. Bought it new, learned how to ride on it, put my first 5k on the road on it. I see it as what was big for me was 500 (got to double the RPM range, 4k-8k) 1000 (doubled that RPM range, full 16k) 1500 (first inspection/oil change/"broken in") then 5k now, 10k later, from there its just old news until 50k

Edit: Also if you average out both our mileages per year (without taking into consideration that I put all mine on in 6 months of its 2 year life) we come to the same MPY

I'm just a little above 3400 right now. i'm already due for a back tire, and lord knows my clutch isn't the best. its kind of a shame, cause its more or less a throw away bike. I can't really ride it comfortably, and its a pain in the ass to work on. I guess I oughtta start looking into possibly changing the clutch.

good shit bro, my 2k R1 is on the verge of 20k miles and in showroom condition yet, I put on at a minimum 500 miles every weekend if the weather is permitting and during the week can add up to 100-300 miles pending on my work/weather schedule :)

My '07 1krr only has 2800 on it. I've owned it almost a year now, purchased off the showroom floor with 0 miles on the clock.. Poor bike. I'm going out for a ride!

Grats on 5k.

I stacked 3300 on my 09 600rr pretty fast, but it's been raining here a fucking ton and I've been extremely busy. I've owned it for about 5 months.

thanks guys. If I bought a new bike today (which after talking to the guys at Chicago Cycle and also feeling how lite a friends 04 R1 felt I may be doing so soon) I know it'd have 5k on it before the end of the season. I mean im already at 5300 now and I've only ridden it two days since I posted!

Hey congrats on hitting your 5k. I have an 00 ZX9R and A 07 Yamaha Star Warrior. The ZX9 I bought used and was my first bike. I got it with 4k on it and I just turned 21k. I put 17k on it in 4 years. My Warrior is about to turn 9k. I bought that new but did not get to ride it much last year due to buying the new house.

The Romans used larger rocks to mark every mile on their roads. Have fun getting 5000 of those ;x.

Yeah but the Romans had a shit load of slaves to do it all for them

I grew up racing (competitively) Motocross (since age 6) but stopped when my dad got too
old and stopped (I was in 7th grade) My dad said I could keep going and he'd get me a new
bigger bike when I needed it....but he was my riding buddy so I quit too. Stupid move...a few
years later and I was itching again.

Now a Crotch Rocket? My Girlfriend and Mom would shit their pants. I used to be (an can still
be at times) a handful and way too risky with almost everything. I was the kid that did ganner's
off your roof into the pool or tried to jump off a 3 story houseboat with a wakeboard strapped
on, rope in hand as the driver takes off and I jump (tried it 6 times and we could never time it
right so I gave up)
