I have 4 Honda Prelude Si's (92, 96, 91 and 90). I am planning to take the OBD2 and ECU from the 96 and put into the 92 body (better condition). I recently purchased a 91 which has a nice body also. I then found the 90 4-wheel steer. Now, here's my first question.
Is it possible to put the 4-WS from the 90 into the 92 body (3rd generation 1990 to 4th gen. 1992) ??
The next question I have is, what engines other than H22, H23, F22 and F23 would fit into the 92 body without changing motor mounts ??
I have read that you can take an F motor and put an H motor head on it to get more base horsepower and that you are able to turbo charge the H motor head without changing the cam. Is this true ??
Any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

anything is possible.

do you have extensive welding and fabrication experience? Do you have limitless funds so you dont' get balls deep into it then not be able to finish?

if you answer no to either of those, don't do it.

I have all the tools and fabrication experience. What I don't have is extensive Honda knowledge. My first Honda was a 2006 Civic Si. I loved this car but sold at a good price. Now I'm looking for a similiar thrill ride. I bought the Prelude based on looks and price. The biggest problem I'm running into is power and handling (like everyone else). The H23 at 160 HP is very nice but definitely not enough. I would like in the line of 300+. This was my original goal. Then I found the 4WS models. I have also found 4th gen. 4-wheel steer models. This is what prompted me to purchase my first 3rd gen. Prelude. Unfortunately, it did not have 4WS so I purchased one that had it. If the 4th gen 4-WS is too much of a project, I would build one 3rd gen with 4-WS but what engine options do I have ??
Thanks.

use the 90 as the build car. the 4ws is nice, but on the 92 and up it's electrical motors that steer the rear wheels and you will run into problems with them. The earlier models have mechanical rear steering and are much more reliable. Also the rear steering motors add a lot of weight and alter the handling of the vehicle. I believe that there are mounts available for the 90 so you can swap an F or H series in there. If you're looking at turbo don't be afraid to go with the F series. It will take boost very nicely and will put down decent numbers without any modification to the bottom end

Don't try to swap the 4ws system from the 3rd-gen into the 4th-gen. That's just silly when the 3rd-gen chassis is lighter and there are mount kits available to install F/H-series engines...
