So a while ago, I had a 88 CRX HF stolen from me, but recovered about 4 days later, with not too much missing..mainly things I could do without. So I ended up getting a new one. An 89 HF, with a real clean body, and a full interior. So I took my old one, which is pretty beat up, and traded it for my brother SI tranny, and sohc non-vtec ZC. Moved to Vegas, and took both cars with us, and now we are rebuilding the old crx. Here's some pics of what we've started on, and what it looks like now.

After engines out
We took the wiring harness completely out...going to clean and paint.

The oil pan is dirty as shit...its actually powder coated like a cherry red.

Interior has a little work to be one....
6.jpg

It's got a lightweight flywheel on the D16A6...

Both the wheel wells...with some rusty ass rotors.

It sat in a field for about 2-3 months.

So, brother plans on putting a 95 civic coupe front end on it...and a B20.
Don't know if I'm too fond of changing the front end...I like the way a rex
looks, but it's his car. Might look pretty good if he does it all right. Updates to come soon. We'll prolly clean this motor up and put it back in until we can find a front end and a B20, just so he has a daily driver and doesn't have to drive the Shadow.

The 95 coupe is only an idea for right now. The front end has damage that would be more of a pain to try and straighten out, than to just put a new front end on. He doesn't want to go back to stock since the front end is going to be off anyway. Might as well make something that you don't see as much. Might go the del sol route for the front. He's not too positive yet. Whatever he puts on, he's going to change out for carbon fiber as well.

So, we got a full gaskit kit, and some new crank bearings.

Will put them on, on Sunday or Monday.

Put pics up when were done.

So we got back to doing some more work on the beat up rex. I also made a new friend....The toothbrush...We have been through some grimy times int he engine bay. All the cleaning has been done with Purple Power (half water, half cleaner), and a toothbrush.

Started cleaning the engine bay, the engine, and intake, got the crank bearings in, still have to clean the tranny, and we started sanding down the hood for repainting. There were like 4 coats of paint on the damn thing. Bought some paint today for the engine bay, just have to do a little more cleaning and then we can start masking and painting.

Took off the fel rail and the injectors...they were DIIIIRTY.

So here's some pics.

Still needs some more cleaning.

More cleaning for the block also.
crx2.jpg

Tranny is yet to be started on cleaning.
crx3.jpg

Hood still needs about 50% more sanding.
crx4.jpg

The dirty ass injectors. And yes, that is a zip tie. HAHA

Anyway, more to come soon. I'm jobless ATM so I'm turning into a cleaning fool. At least someting is finally getting done with this damn car.

Cleaned that dirty spot up top, and currently primering it up. Going to be glossy black when were done. Were thinking about painting the block and head, but not sure yet. Opinions?

Ok. Primer'd and painted. Pics.
Here's the Primer shots, along with my blurry head.

wow thats glossy

try to talk him out of the front-end conversion, clean crx's are becoming so rare. I so want to do a HF Rex, but with a d15 w/ VTEC-E, and get gubber MPGs. :thumbsup:keep with the updates

I understand his thinking, but I just don't see how that could possibly work and look good. I mean, think about it, the CR-X has more of a boxy, straight-lined, late 80s car shape. Both the 92-95 Civic and the Del Sol are much more rounded. If you chop the front off of one of those cars, and stick it onto a car with a completely different body shape, it's just going to look like ass. It won't flow. It will look exactly like what it will be - a bastard car with a front end that doesn't match the rest of the body.

And really, I'm not one of those guys that thinks Hondas are holy and shouldn't be messed with, I just think that particular combination would look really dumb. It's up to him though, that's just my 2 cents...

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I don't even like Del-Sol front ends, but that's me. To me their kind of ugly. I like a nice stock body CRX. The only thing I would want to change, would be the back bumper. I think they are too short. I wouldn't want some crazy ass body kit style crap ass bumper. If possible, completely stock looking, just a little longer.

Back to the front end.

I think it could look okay, if it were done completely right. But that would mean finding a metal fab place that could make fenders fit, and line up with the CRX body lines. There would also have to be some bondo/fiberglass work...which sucks. I'm not even sure if he's still thinking about going through with this. We were talking about making semi-identical CRX's. Mine would basically be semi show quality, semi race, and his would be full out stripped to race, just having an identical exterior. Only time will tell. Nothing is going to happen to my Rex until I get a damn job. Still waiting for a call for an interview. Wish that would come sooner. Thanks for the input.

Started tearing down my brothers crx even more. Had a long break from working on it. No job makes nothing happen lol. All good now, should have it running in the next month or maybe a lil longer. Got out the rest of the interior. Scraped down the bottom side of the car and stitch welded it.. next step after we get completely done welding is to foam the most of the car to make it nice and stiff. Going to stitch weld the rest of the car get it all painted. Plans now are for a B20 turbo. After this car we start on mine.

We have a lot of video from doing this entire part, except we still need to edit it up a little. going to put all the clips together and speed it up so it all fits in like 2 min or less. Here's some pics for now.
