I've decided I don't need 3 cars any more, and being self employed now, i really don't want the M anymore. It's making me just have to work harder.... and since i'm not going anywhere, it sits in the garage most the time.
the ti is fun, but it needs more work and i've already dumped too much into it.
Between the M payment and insurance for the 2 cars, the bill tops $1000 a month.
So, I've decided to downgrade from 2 bmw's to one............
Hyundai.
yup. a hyundai.
I have an appt. tomorrow to test drive a 2.0t geneis coupe.
specd how i want it, its 28k.
with a decent interest rate and only 1 insurace to pay for (the ti actually costs me more than the M to insure), this should drop me to 600/month or so combined payment/insurnace. therefore, saving $450 a month, and having a brand new car with a 10yr 100k warranty to boot.
I still have the truck for winter, hauling, etc, so the rwd isn't a factor to consider (hell, both my cars are rwd now).
So, assuming i can get a decent trade in on the M (at least what I owe) and they give me a couple grand for the ti, I'm likely going to be driving a Genesis coupe as early as next week (the one i want isn't on the lot, so i'll have to order it or get it from another dealership or something which may take some time). If they want to give me $500 for the ti, i'll certainly be keeping it, but will still try to sell it locally.
Am I crazy?
perhaps. but given my current situation, I think it's the best thing to do. It will move me from scraping by to having a couple hundred in my pocket a month to live on/have fun with /save.
I've tried to sell both cars locally and on forums, and i'm just not getting any bites, so i'm at the point of trade in is my only option to get out of the M.
Other cars.... there's not really anything under 30k that appeals to me right now. I don't really want to buy used, and everything else is just a lot of money or junk.
If you have other suggestions, i'm all ears.
