ok now I know that it is possible to do an h22 head swap on a h23. what is the hp gain of the head swap? is it more powerful then a stock h22? What about using type-s piston's in the h23 wil that work? will there be more power

The OEM H23A vtec is rated at 200PS, so it's probably going to be in the same neighborhood.

There's no such thing as an "OEM H23A vtec"... But anyway. My guess with an H23 bottom end and Vtec (H22) head, would be around 210-215 hp to the flywheel.

Just because you don't know about it in your little world, doesn't mean that Honda didn't produce it for about two years in the Accord wagon SiR in the real world.

Not to mention your car is not a real SiRII. Was it shipped from Japan?

have a h23a that did lick bearings n the inside crab up, took it out n have in a f22b, but the h way better how much would it cost me 2 get a vtech head n put it on the h23a, knowing it ave to go machine shop. is it even worth it. or is it better to combine both engines i have or just modify the f22b. natural aspirated

the best thing to do in that case is to check the date and not bring threads back after 4+ years

Hello everybody, so i have a '88 Honda Prelude Si 4ws with a b20a5 engine, the object i propose to myself rebuilt this car, and i need more horsepower in the future, so my question is which type vtec honda cylinder head compatible this engine ?

Specs om H23a Vtec (blue top) found on wiki

H23A VTEC

In 1998 Honda produced a rare VTEC version of the H23 engine for use in Japan only. It is essentially an H23 block with an H22 head. The power is on par with a typical H22 engine, but with a lower redline. It does, however, have a few more foot-pounds of torque than the H22.
Specifications

  • Bore × Stroke: 87.0 mm × 95.0 mm (3.43 in × 3.74 in)
  • Displacement: 2,258 cc (137.8 cu in)
  • Valve Configuration: DOHC, 16 valves, VTEC
  • Type: In-line 4 cylinder, aluminum block and head
  • Compression ratio: 10.6:1
  • Max output : 200 PS (197 hp/147 kW) @ 6800 rpm
  • Max torque : 163 ft·lbf (221 N·m) @ 5300 rpm
  • Redline: 7000 rpm

H23A VTEC

  • Found in the Japanese 1998-2002 Accord Wagon SiR (CH9). It produces 200 PS (197 hp/147 kW) & 163 ft·lbf (221 N·m) and comes with a "blue top".
  • Found in the Japanese 1998-2002 Accord Wagon AWD (CL2). It produces 200 PS (197 hp/147 kW) & 163 ft·lbf (221 N·m) and comes with a "blue top".

The answer is that there are no VTEC heads that will bolt to that block. Absolutely none. So have fun with it. And as others mentioned, next time, check the date on the thread before you post...
