I'm new to Honda's and engine building in general, I'm currently looking at buying an early 90's or late 80's honda, I am going to customizing it and would eventually like to perform an engine swap. Please give me some advice on what early 90's models of Honda are the most versatile and best for customization/swapping.

What engines can I swap into a 91 civic, accord, or crx?

Thanks

I'd go for a 92-95 civic. Anything out of an integra literally drops in, and it's already obd1.

Stay away from the accord.. There just isn't much you can do that is worth doing to that car. Civics and integras are very versitile and interchange parts very well. The CRX (i am very partial to the rex) is a nice, light weight, nimble chassis to play with.. But they are getting quite expensive. Look for a crx, civic hatch, or integra 2 door. For a crx or civic (88-91 year models) you could start with a ZC swap. Its an easy, bolt in swap with a little bit of wiring, and it can be done on the cheap. Good swap to get your feet wet.

Boosting the stock engine can be done fairly cheaply and produces decent results. Other then that though, I agree. It's nice that the H22's a bolt-in, but it doesn't really produce enough extra oomph to make the car seem that much faster...

lol hes prob on his 3rd honda by now lol....i didnt notice until u mention it
