cool thanks im used to the old d-16 that was like 7200. i was lifting around there with the new motor and it seemed like the vtec just kicked in as i was lifting

well it is much higher than i thought thanks every one the vetec seems to engage about 65ish or so does that sound right?

Vtec engagement is 5500 rpm, max torque is 111 @ 7000 rpm and max hp is 160 @ 7600 rpm, redline is 8000 rpm. Stock B16a2/3. JDM models may differ slightly.

you guys are good it is engaging at 5500 and it redlines at 8000 thank you for all your help this forum has been so much help.now that all is running properly time for some mods hmmmmmmmm whats first............

depends what you use it for.

autocross - vortech intercooled supercharger kit comes at ~3200. Your block is good up to ~270hp.

turbo is better for anything else other than autocross imho.

Start small, don't jump right into power adders.

I'm with E all the way. Safety mods first. Good rotors, good pads, brake lines and make sure it's tuned up properly. A nice suspension setup will help along the way. Learn the car best first when it's slow, then build it to suit your ultimate goal. Intake, header, exhaust, intake manifold, shifter, then power adders.

i have experience w/ nitrous on small block v8s whats your opinion? my motor is stock but completley rebuilt by a professional engine shop

SB V8s with fat tires on the back and a 1595 cc FWD engine will respond very differently.

If you go for nitrous its all in the tune. Don't throw it on and then go spraying it, TUNE it so it will handle it first.
