ok this is my 1st thread ever, ive been lookin for threads to answer my question
but no luck, if ur someone that wants to be a dick well simply just dont reply this thread just wasnt ment for you.

ok this is my deal
i got an 01 lx civ d17 stock auto
i was thinkin about a motor swap i've read about the k20 (Si) k24 (rsx)
of course i would want a manual tranny, but i just really wanna know is if its worth it if i do the swap with either motor or should i simply just by a SI or RSX bc the less trouble the better, i read a thread earlier and Brutal said if you dont do it big then you'll regret it. which is true so thats why im here askin specifically if its worth to slap a K in it or just by an si or rsx or mayb a cat thats already did it to a civic

" This thread wasn't made for pricks so no need for dicks"

well the rsx type s has a k20 in it not a k24. but thats a good question. i think if it was me id just by the rsxs because at the end of the day the re sale its still just a civic

o damn so i guess i miss understood what i was reading
so what does the k24 come out of other than the crv an accord?

From what I've heard it isn't easy to swap anything into the civic of that body style or year.

Hassport has done it, I don't think they have a kit yet but it wouldn't hurt to look.

Hasport has the mounts for it. You'll also need K-Pro or some substitute. It's not extremely complicated, but definitely not as easy as a B-series...

There are different versions of the K24. The Accord, CR-V, and Element version ranges from 160-180 horses. The version that they put in the TSX makes 200+ horses. Obviously the TSX version is the most desireable one, but it's going to be the most expensive one as well.

If it was up to me, I would try to just trade the Civic on an RSX or newer Si. You'll probably end up spending that much anyway, and then you'll have the engine you want and it will have been installed by the factory.

That's my 2 cents...

umm. I think the best engine would be a b series, prolly cost the least to fit and they aren't slow. B18C5 (dc2 type R engine), B18C1 (gsr engine) could also go with a B16a2 (ep3/vtec delsol)

and yeah rsx uses k20a3 and type s uses k20z3. imho, if you want a k, it'd be best to get another car.

This is a 2002 Civic we're talking about. B-series engines don't swap well into that chassis. His choices are basically this: 1.) swap a K, 2.) boost his stock engine, or 3.) sell his car and get something else.

the rsx also came with the k20a2 just so you know and the z3 is a si motor and a z1 is rsx

Thanks brutal an ahhvtec. Well this now is kinda difficult now since I got only 3 options. But I think I'm just do the small upgrades to it just to keep me occupide. Since ima keep the same motor, what mods do you think should be made? I think the only big mod ima do is mabey get a vtec head an a 5spd tranny put in. But since this car is my Daily drive ,a new motor for the amount of money that it cost may not be worth the trouble. Idk if I wanna make it into a sleeper. I rather get the si or rsx I mean they look a lot nicer an had many better advantages hell I may just get a tsx. But anway lemme know what mods would be best

well i think it will be a waste of money if your not gonna go all out with it because to be honest it will still be perty slow unless you dump 1500 bucks in it at least

If your gonna keep the stock motor i would spray it or go boost....

Or

If you do decide do do the swap, research the k20 head with k24 short block...

Personally, i would just save the money i was gonna use to mod it, trade in or sell the car and put 2 and 2 together and buy the rsx typeS, you'll have a factory fast and attractive dd, with leather seats too....just my 2 cents

Well is a d17 good motor to mod

Eh, it's not the best Honda motor to mod, but it's also not the worst. If you do end up boosting it, you'll need to invest in a new intake manifold. The factory manifold on those motors is plastic, and it'll blow up like a balloon if you try to run boost through it...

Buy a y8 intake mani, and throw a smaller turbo on it. a k-swap will cost like twice as much as turboing that d17.
