Im planing to mod s b18c1 for my integra ive heard swapping a b16 head is a good idea i just dont know what series i should have for the best performance any ideas?
 
that sounds kinda backward to me. People will put b16a heads onto a b18 block (for lsvtec), but why swap out ur gsr head for a b16a head. o_O
 
save your money and just get some good cams and tuning.
 
all your gonna do is lower your compression and spend a lot of money, just buy valve springs, flat faced valves, cams and tune the shit out of it yo!
 
I think what he means is that the B18C1 head has a smaller combustion chamber then the B16a, therefore using the B16A head on the B18C1 block will slightly lower compression.

B16A head + B18C1 block = poor man's type R <---search for this.

If keeping the B18C1 head, I don't know if the Type R IM will bolt up to it, but the Skunk2 IM are similar and will bolt up. The point of using the B16 head is that it flows better then the B18C1 head which means more HP, the slight drop in compression won't matter as much, since its static compression, as how the head flows. I believe the B16 and Type R heads are the same casting.

Nope, it lowers the compression. just by a bit but still lowers the compression.

Yes the B16 and Type-R head are the same castings BUT the type-R has a mild port and polish, thus flowing better.

most of the restrictions on the gsr head is in the Intake manifold, its not all that big of a diffrence in CFMs anyway.

A better thing to do is upgrde valve train and have some head work done. in the end you will get more power out of the gsr head.
 
You can use a b16 or itr intake mani which from my understanding is better than the gsr
No you cant the B16 and type r heads have a different intake manifold bolt pattern than the B18C1. The B16 head (any year) has a smaller combustion chamber than the B18C so it will up the crompression. I dont think it is worth the effort to do this head swap. I would put in swap type r cams or some stage 2 cams insted.
 
B16 head outflows a GSR head, but the GSR head on a LS block will yield a higher compression ratio. GSR has a bigger quench area.

The type R head differs from the B16 head due to a mild factory port job, camshafts and valve springs. The intake manifold pattern of the two is the same. The GSR is different.

A GSR head will fit directly on a B16 block, the B16 head will fit directly on a GSR block (poor mans Type R). GSR head still yielding a higher compression ratio. A GSR head allows for IAB setups, which is a rarity that ppl what. I know guys that just take them out completly.

To the OP, a B16 head on your GSR block will lower the compression, and get rid of the IABs in the intake manifold.
