Under employed
Of my hours. Last night our welding rig was stolen from the motel parking lot we stay at. They showed up somewhere between 10pm and 6am and took it. So in the results of this theft we're sent home early, till Monday of next week when a new welding rig is brought down. It was taken from Cocoa Beach, Fl. Whoever it was busted up the steering column and turned the ignition.

dude that sucks. you called the cops and have insurance right?

I dont own the truck, but yes, the cops were called and all the information and every last detail of the truck was given. Its a company truck and everything was fully insured, except my weekly paycheck. I'm still losing hours out of this.

call unemployment.

There ya go. When I was working as a dispatcher at a ready mix company we had drivers bounce on and off of unemployment during the winter. So you should be able to. Granted this is in Washington but I would imagine its the same.

We'll I'm not seriously worried about it, being I'm only out of work for a week. So I dont see it fit to go apply for unemployment when I'll only be off work for a week. Still, 40 hours short of what I could have.

He'd be working again before the paperwork even got pushed through. And I'm pretty sure you have to be legitimately layed off. Not just sent home. Please tell me you guys were joking.

he can always apply for partial unemployment and just get that week payed. its no big deal really.

it will take less than an hour to file. if he gets a check for $400, thats a pretty good hourly wage. what is there to lose, an hour of time? i spend an hour on the toilet some days.

i dunno about your state, but i think in ny you have to be unemployed longer than a week to collect

Sit in line for who knows how long. An hour to file. A month and a half to be approved... And I too am pretty sure you had to be actually unemployed for two weeks before you could apply. Again NOT just sent home for a week because there was no work. You have to be unemployed to qualify for unemployment.

That is not true for all states. Like I said, when I was working for a ready mix company guys collected unemployment because we had no work for them. And some times they where off for a week and worked two days the following week. Then off again for two weeks.

Negative. My best friend collects for a week here or a week there. But a lot of the time you will actually get the check 2-4 weeks later. It doesn't matter if you're back at work by then either. You still didn't get paid for the week.

moral of the story, you're not at work anyways what better do you have to do with your time other than call the unemployment office?
