My CRX makes a weird clicking sound, it sounds exactly like clicking cv's. Just say you're at a light, you take off then it clicks once. Then you brake or de-accelerate at the next light ahead and it clicks back, but only once. Turning the wheels does nothing to change it. I can feel the click on the floor. It's kinds loud, like a bad thing is gonna happen.

Make sure your axles are seated firmly in the transmission.

Also, inspect all of your motor mounts.. Could have one busted.

Could also be a bad cv joint even though it doesn't click in turns.

a failing inner cv joint will cause the sound you describe.

also check to make sure your radius rods are tight at the lower control arm. this is a pic of what mine looked like. notice that tiny little gap under the bolt to the right? the bolt on the left had also loosened up just enough to let the rod snap back and forth as i would accelerate and deccelerate.

Well thats what I was saying, it sounds exactly like a clicking cv but it doesn't go click clack click clack click clack it just clicks once then back once.

On my Civic that bolt you showed above came loose and fell out, the car was scary to drive. but it didn't click, it squeaked.

Ha, I had the same type noise on my crx once. at one point I was going down the road and heard a blot fly under my car. Couldn't tell if it came from my car, or was on the road, and my tire picked it up. Well, it came from my car... My brother and I got under the car looking and tightening anything and everything but nothing seemed to be loose...untill we noticed the missing bolt in the cross member. Then noticed 2 other ones were loose. Tightened em, and noise was gone.

Scary stuff...I had gone over 130mph plenty of times with it like that...any one of those times a few more bolts could have flown out and I could have been end over end. Anyway, check out those bolts, it's a possibility. On mine, it happened everytime I accelerated, and when I started to brake. If I accel'd or braked easy enough, it wouldn't do it. Good Luck man, Nice CRX btw. Always CRX FTW

Damn, that's exactly it. I'm jacking of up now and checking everything.

I checked everything, I think. Even the bolts for the upper control arm and the shock tower were tight.

I took off the front wheels and jacked it up. I can make the sound by putting it in 1st, holding the brake and dumping out the clutch, but then I have to put in reverse to make it click back. The drivers hub does not spin but the passenger side does. I forgot to mension the sound is coming from the drivers side.

When I took off the passenger front wheel the first thing I saw was the two rotor screws were half way out. A 15 year old kid can do a proper brake job but a "professional" shop can't, what's with that? The brakes were just done before I got the car, they didn't get loose over time.

so assuming you checked the radius rod i'm going to bet it could very well be your inner cv joint
Is this the radius rod?

If yes then...yes.

And when you say inner cv joint do you mean right by the trans?

Hey I didn't check the anit-roll bar, I'll do it in the light timorrow morning.

check your motor mounts also. I'm having the same sort of noise right now, and my back and front motor mounts were loose...how I don't know, but they were.

When my dad gets home from work I'll jack it up again and well look for it. I would expect this shit in a $500 hatch with a million miles, not a $2400 car with 170,000 miles.
