Will an H22 Auto fit into an EK Chassis? What about an F20B Auto?

Instead of doing an engine rebuild, I was looking to do an easy and fairly cheap swap. Car has to stay automatic.

Thanks Lads.

If you're looking for a swap that's easy and cheap, this isn't it. I'd look for an automatic B16 or B18C instead...

B18's fly for about $2000 more around here. I might just see if I can find an automatic integra parts car around here and pick it clean.

an automatic b18b is going to be your best best. easiest to find too...

Theres a few older OBD1 integras around, but I'd like to get something around the same year, and ODB2.

Yeah, but as far as I know, no one swaps H or F-series engines into a Civic and keeps them automatic. A 5-speed H/F swap into a Civic requires fabrication to make the shifter work, so I really don't see how an automatic swap would be easy.

Why must this car remain automatic? You're really limiting yourself here...

Call it a handicap :( . And the car is more or less a daily driver when the weather is fair. I was just curious about the swap because everyone tells me engine swaps in EK's are rediculously easy. I learned that an autobox from an H or F series wont accually fit in the car physically.

In reality, I think Im going to just rebuild the top end of the D16Y8 thats in it and fly with that for now. Im no stranger to performance, I just have a really really good condition EK that I'd like to pump a couple more HP out of. I thought a DOHC swap would compliment it nicely.

swaps into ek's are easy. just not h/f series. an sohc vtec is considered a swap, hell, you could turbo the current setup and have a nicel ittle car.

Yeah, doing a bulid on the current engine is probably what you should look into. As I thought, fitting the automatic H/F-series would be quite a trick. An automatic B-series swap would be a bolt-in solution, but it sounds like they're very overpriced where you are? I can't imagine that it would be much more expensive then an H/F swap though...

The H and F motors are not and easy swap into a civic of any year. If you want a cheap easy swap that is OBDII.... B18b1 I got mine for $800 trans, axles, harness, ecu and all. A D16Y8 is also cheap and easy unless you have an Ex modle already. Even a Vtec head swap on a Lx or Dx is very easy and cheap and is a great way to gain hp.

ive done this swap in my dx coupe and its not easy and spendy so i would suggest you go with a cheaper upgrade like a head swap or something like that , thats if you are runnin the y-8 vtec? good luck on your swap man...

i just finished this swap. DONT DO IT, it is way too much work. go with a jdm gsr auto or something.

not really,do the research and youll be fine ,and once youve done that the work is easyjust follow the proper procedures ,so dont belieave the hype about h22 swaps its not that hard and youll be impressed with the torque it gives you in your civic,if you have any questions pm me back..good luck.

yes its a lot of torque, however, i had to cut the frame on the passenger side, make a custom trans mount out of a inovative maunal peice (they said they sent a auto mount and i wasnt going to wait another2 weeks for a replacement) , custom harness, use a teg shifter and cable, splice a h22 and d16 exhaust mani (could have bought that kiddracing tri y but its freakin $400), relocated the fuel filter to the driver side to use a d16 fuel line. intall a pusher fan on the radiator. ill take pics tonight and post.

basicly it takes me 4-6 hours for a gsr, si , type-r swap, ive got over 60 hours in this one. its not dificult, its time comsuming. i rather do a j32 swap, its almost the same $ fits better in the car (except the hood of course) and if you are looking for torque its the way to go. the only drawbacks are not as much support in the aftermarket, making the harness takes forever, and ...the big ass hole in the hood

yes, strip the plastic wire loom on your harness on where the small peice goes to the injectors close to where it goes to the main harness. there are four yellows/black and a red, yellow, brown, blue, and i cant remember what color the two for the iacv are, but, cut the four yellow/blacks that go to the injectors close to the main harness and connect the 4 red wires from the resistor box to them on the injector side of what you cut. the four others that go to the main harness go to the single yellow/black that comes from the resistor box. make sure you add enough wire to mount the resistor box on the shock tower . throw some loom on it and your done.

i put mine here because i eliminated power steering.
