It's only stupid if it doesn't work

So I haven't been on or posting lately so I thought I give you all a quick update on what I'm doing.

-I no longer have the job I hated with the Hudson Bergen Light Rail. I gave my two weeks and was done August 1st.

-That weekend I got a little out of hand celebrating my new found freedom. (Thurs.)Got into a fight. Got some stitches for the first time in my life. Find out that the kid I fought is hooking up with my ex. Honestly I had no idea and dont care.
(Fri.)Went to Dave and Buster's, won a lot of tickets and prizes, and still don't know how I didn't get kicked out.
(Sat.)Really pissed off a girl I was hooking up with when I hooked up with her friend the same night. She left, I stayed there with the friend.
(Sun.) Parentals find out about the fight with the ex's new boy and tell me I'll be kicked out if I enter Gloucester County(where Rowan is) anytime in the near future. I honestly think I was just trying to make up the past year in 3 nights, but I'm over it.

-I'm going to grad school in the fall for my MS in Accounting. At NJCU, not Rowan. It's what my BS should have been in anyway and I'm actually really pumped about starting. Just finishing up my paperwork and scheduling my GMATs. The best part about it is that all the classes are at night. This program is meant for professionals going while working full time. This will allow me to work part time at first and still continue going on interviews to get a real job until I finish my Masters. Like I said, I'm psyched.

So apart from a weekend that got way too out of hand, I'm already much happier with my situation. I'll finally be working up to my potential again. I'll have the weekends for activities, be it surfing, snowboarding, volunteering, hockey, etc. Stuff I did before having a schedule that restricted my every move. I'll even be able to get my fat ass back into shape. I'm sick and tired of my gut.

So just thought I should let everyone know where I'm at. Definitely not where I thought I'd be at 23, but given the climate and my situation I think I'm making the best of it.

check your states CPA education requirments
make sure you get it all buttoned up so you aren't stuck going back for more glasses to sit for the test, if you choose to do so in the future

Yea I forgot to mention, this Master's program is geared so that you meet all the requirements for the CPA when you finish and should be able to sit for it immediately. However they still reccomend you study and brush up before taking it.

you need to stop drinking dude....
The only night that I was crazy drunk was Friday at Dave and Busters.

Part I left out about the fight. I had dinner and drinks with my ex last week. Nothing more than that. Just catching up I guess. Well this kid attacked me on Thurs. after the bar. I know him as a guy in another fraternity. I just thought it was drunk people being dumb, but looking back with all the information, he might have had an issue with the dinner earlier in the week. Could have been why his friend snuck me and his ring split my lip open. Had nothing to do with me being drunk. I barely was. I was drinking Guinness all night. Only had like 4 or 5.

Saturday was just awkward really. I don't want either girl. just having fun.

Man, my life is 100% more fucked up than yours, but 100% less climatic.

Do you make that many enemies? Think about it.....

You win the fight, its assault my friend, possibly aggravated assault if the kid has deep pockets and gets the right lawyer. I guess I swear by full nelsons and head and arm tosses. Nothing more, nothing more physical. Not worth the paperwork or blood.

Most of the time I carry a knife and a gun. Fights won't happen for me ever again. I won't risk anything to defend some girl or stand up for some bar debate. It's worth walking away. If I'm going to do something, its only if my life is in danger. Otherwise I'll evade and forget.

Like billy currington said, "Good is great, beer is good, and people are crazy."

:concur: 100% on all parts

Been there. Luckily I don't think anyone has ever been convicted when 75% of the fight was 2 on 1. I wasn't out looking for a fight. Like I said, they attacked me.

Hope things stay on track for you buddy. I would do my best to avoid situations/local hang outs where dudes like that may be. Especially with what you are wanting to do for work. Most employers don't care who started the fight, they dont want their employee showing up to work after a weekend looking like roadkill.

It's really just being around a college crowd. Last three fights were this one, an altercation at Rutgers last Sept., and at a bar by the beach last July with a smart ass guy my age. But recently I've been doing very good and keeping my nose clean. Like I said, this was a hick-up when I was trying to cram a little too much fun into one weekend.

well i took it as he nobody would fight him because he carries a knife or gun.. if thats not what was meant then my post was not valid..but if it is then yes..for carrying a gun and flaunting it you would be shot...
and no i dont mean everyone carries a gun..but the place i used to live in..alot of ppl that were around did have some sort of weapon...and yes i did get a gun pulled on me from something that had happened 6-7 years prior to the time that it was pulled..

re read his post again

take the entire thing in context

then you should understand that what he is saying is just about the dead opposite of how you took it

E is winar! If you go through all of the work to obtain a CPL/CCW permit then the last thing you do is flaunt it. Crime involving those who obtain conceal and carry permits is way below all national averages. For that matter, 98% of us do everything within our power to avoid situations that require any kind of confrontation but shit happens.

But really Slush, I am glad that things are going well for you man. It is a great feeling having your eyes set on a goal and knowing how to get there. Keep up the good work son.

I'm doing my best. At this point I have too much on the line to screw it up with a stupid fight.

I just have to avoid certain situations. Pretty much not going back down to school. But that doesn't even mean avoiding fun. I can still hang out around my hometown, around the beach, and in AC. Plus I'm on a new health kick and I want to learn to kite board, that will help keep me out of trouble. Maybe even a summer snowboarding trip. Just have to keep myself busy. I'm sure grad school will help with that too.

You're 20 years old. Either you're a gangster ass wannabe without a gun and did stupid shit when you were 13-14 giving the fact that you were 20 when you got the gun pulled, or you have horrible luck and it was a misunderstanding.

The point of my post is I do not put myself anywhere near a situation that could be an altercation. I myself am in the position to defend myself, at that, with lethal force. Therefore the only time I would be invoked to act in an altercation that I felt could not be avoided, by getting away, turning the other cheek, taking a sucker punch, taking the insults, etc. would be in a life threatening situation.

I'm not touching on the fact that in most regard, the fact that a lot of people need to be taught a lesson. I just don't hold myself to a higher power to be the one that teaches. I've grown over that. I know I can defend myself with fists and humiliate people, but at that now a days it will cost you a lot more then your pride getting bruised, or your ego getting shrunk, or losing a dick measuring contest. Not something I need to be doing, or giving a flying fuck about, nor trying to impress others with.
