98 civic, lowered with not sure what springs (green in color). I bought the car lowered and it seems like the handling is so damn touchy. Driving on the interstate and you barely touch the wheel and its swaying all over the place. If you let the wheel go it tracks nice and straight. Rides good except for the touchy touchy steering. Any ideas why? Or is honda steering just really sensitive or does the lowering have something to do with it? Any parts to help? links please?

It might have fucked with your tow and camber angle. Take it to a shop and get it alind.

The lowering changes the suspension geometry a little bit which in conjunction with the stiffer feel make the handling seem more sensitive. Like matt said though it's possible that whoever put the springs on didn't have the car aligned, so I'd do that before your tires blow up.

sounds like you are toed out in the front

get it aligned

I can let the steering wheel go and its fine, straight as an arrow. And the tires dont seem to be worn on one side more than another. I have driven a car that has been out of align. Thats not what this is. Its just super touchy.

Time for a 600mm steering wheel then. LOL

just because the car goes straight down the road and doesn't veer off when you let go of the wheel doen't mean that your toe is set correctly.

for ghits and siggles take a tape measure and measure the toe.

also, what size tires do you have on the front?

you are missing the point. there are 3 parts to an alignment, you only understand 1 part of it.

there is caster, camber, and toe.

if you come on a forum, and ask a question, and 5 people tell you the same answer, don't assume they are wrong if you don't know what is right.

you are absolutely correct. its not your alignment at all
in fact everything about your alignment is perfectly in spec

your car simply has "touchy" handling and there is nothing that can be done about it

of course you already knew this before posting here... so i guess the joke is on us

good one!!

now i could go into detail on how to go about performing a string box alignment on your own, and how to dial certain handling characteristics in or out to get it to perform exactly how you want... but you probably already know how to do that too... so i wont waste my time

:)

thanks again for wasting our time... have a nice day... good luck with the "touchy" steering

You guys are dicks - plain and simple. I guess this site you cant ask questions and give feed back. If im wrong about something then im wrong but being a dick isnt gonna help.

I measured the toe, i measured 60 13/16 in the front of the tire and 60 1/2 in the rear of the tire. For a difference of 5/16. so that would be my toe? 5/16 out?

it's not about being a dick. the problem is you. you asked us a question and we told you the answer. you just don't like our answer and proceeded to argue.

the problem you described sounds like an alignment issue OR it could be your tires. we will give you ideas, it's your job to check them.

ok so anyone wanna answer me about my toe. I measured it. does front and back have to be the same? is 5/16 difference something to be worried about? Anything else i can check

Sounds like you might be toed out... quite a bit too. Try getting it aligned and see what that does.

Roger, seems like everyone says the same. Sorry for being hard headed. Will do.
Also i saw some parts for camber for the front end. Would i need those so they can adjust it? Or are the oem parts on the car adjustable enough?
