So...we started yet again, another project. On top of the crx and the pontoon boat. We have a friend that has an 84 nissan 200sx, and he drifts at the local events, and he's been waiting and wanting me and my brother to get a RWD car to start drifting. So the owner of the pontoon boats dad has had an 83' 280zx sitting in his yard for like 4-5 years now. We talked to him and he said he just wanted it off his property, and said he would sell it to us fr $200. So we had to buy it. The body is straight as shit, not a ding in it. We start looking at it more, and it only has 121k miles on it. It was the top of the line model in it's day. All digital guages, power windows, power locks. It's automatic, which we're going to change to a 5 speed, we just have to take a trip to the pick-n-pull. Oh yea, it's also a t-top, which I love. It had the full interior when we picked it up yesterday, but now it has nothing but 2 seats a dash, and the door panels. HA! We stripped the crap out of it. We took the exhaust off, and started taking a lot of the heat shields off, and now we just have to wait for more money before we can do more.

The only semi-bad thing about it, is that there is no title. The guy that owns it lives in China now, and is never going to come back for it, and stopped paying $20 a month storage fee after about 6 months of it sitting there. So we just have to apply for an abandoned vehicle thing, and go through that whole spiel. Eventually I'm confident that we will get the title, and be good to go. Even if we don't, drifting here doesn't require you to have/show the title to them before you drift.

CLIFFNOTES:
1.) Got a Nissan 280zx
2.)Clean car
3.)$200
4.)No title
5.)No problem

Here's a pic of the delivery. I didn't get a before the strip pic, but I'll find one on the net. Also will take more pics tomorrow during the day light.

Oh yea. We put a new battery in it...started right up, no problems at all.

Custom tail gate, HA.

well well, airjockie has pretty much a full Z car of parts. talk to him i think he wants to unload some of them.

You'd be doing clayton a huge favor by buying his shit.

as in RB25/20 or whatever that engine is called? If so, no, no RB. L28(E), non-turbo, base model with all the interior extras...well, none now, but back then lol.

Ha, I would love to buy his stuff if he has a lot of what I need. It's so hard to find crap for this thing on the net. Or maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places.

just park the car at Clayton's house and build it there. you can buy ANYTHING you need it and just drive off when finished. Clayton has more parts and tools that 90% of professional shops.

Don't tell him that...I already got a guy doing that right now...;)

he brought me 3 cases of corona light today...:D

And I'm sure he will post what he's up to eventually...

hell man, you might as well open a legit shop here in your garage. if you could find time to work on cars, it could be some good side money.

It's not about money.....

Beer talks.

And this build my buddy is doing is hot..... kinda the same lines as the OP's build... just a tad bit hotter... still a little under wraps...but I might post a pic or two in a few minutes...

i want vids of said project immediately upon completion.

Here's some more pics of the car.

Those rims on the left fit the car, but we dont have small enough lug nuts to fit in the holes.

@clayton Wow, I didn't even notice the turbo or the BOV in the back. All I saw was the oil line on the block....

Pulling all that interior was probably the best thing you could do. Tons of weight back there.

You're telling me. There was so much plastic junk in there lol. It was all in really great condition though. Under the car though, there are so many un necessary heat shields it's crazy.

We fab'd up a new exhaust for it. It only goes about 4 feet from the exhaust manifold, if that. Used the stock down pipe and connected a magnaflow muffler to it. I was suprised that it actually sounded decent. We also started ripping the useless crap out of the engine. Friend has a plate we can use to block the nice little egr hole when we rip that off. Going to take all the heater parts, and AC out in the next few days. Will post pics when we get a little more done.
