Just picked up a 92 civic hatch. Almost everything is gone. The dude gutted it to make a full on drag car and then lost interest. Right now it looks like a theft recovery. I am not that worried about the interior plastic, headliner and carpet. It would be nice 2 have, but its not like I have never had a car without it before. I am trying to find a good parts car since I need so much stuff. If I had to buy it all separate it would be $$$$$$ The four door cars are usually cheap and fill the junk yards but the coupe/hatch are harder 2 find.

I know that the hood, fenders, corner lights and front bumper are different on the 4-door. How about windshield, dash, heater box , wiper motor, front seats and seat belts? The door glass is there but the regulators to roll them up are gone. It might end up staying a drag car unless I find a badly wrecked parts car. I dont want to buy a decent car just to strip it out. Overall the car isnt in bad shape. No major body damage that isnt worth fixing.

Turns out that the yard actually had a 95 civic coupe. Score! I got both the doors complete with power windows, mirrors and locks that still work. Gutted the dash 4 all the wiring and climate box stuff and ripped the whole harness out to make it all work in my hatch. Too bad the seats were gone, but i will probably use integra seats anyway. I have a b18 block and a vtec head to throw together. Now I need a tranny. I might pick up the kit to use one of my cable trans if I cant get a good hydro unit on the cheap.

pics:rolleyes:

Its a bucket of bolts, but Ive seen worse. Still need corner lamps (e-bay deal)
Front bumper brace/support is gone. Anybody know if the windshields are the same on 4-doors, hatches, and coupes? I have the rear glass but need to glue them back in. The car came with some coilovers(cheap ones I think) and some KYB shocks (that might be blown out). The wheels have got 2 go! I could upgrade to integra discs, but I think I will get it movin under its own power first. I was going through my pile of parts and I need to go back and get some other stuff. Its hard to tell whats missing sometimes. I ended up getting an extra cluster that I dont need, but it was better to have 2 than none. I wont be able to get back to the yard 4 another week at least. The taillights look faded like someone tried to make them clear. They are more pink than red if that makes sense. I cant see this car going to waste.

i hope you didnt pay more than like 500 for that, idk if all the "damnits!" are worth getting the car for cheap.

i deff second the all around gsr disk brakes

but good luck bro. i hope all of your scavenging and hard works pays off and you get away with an inexpensive ride.

No doubt about the damnits!
I paid Sixty dollars for the whole heap, delivered to my house. Not too bad but it almost should have been free. Oh well, its a good start anyway. All the others I have seen were at least $1000. This way I have something to work with slowly. I am still hunting parts and trying to trade stuff I dont need 4 stuff I do. I just couldnt see this car getting scrapped.

Got the doors hung last night and threw the harness in loose so I could make sure the windows, mirrors, and locks worked before I made it permanent. So far so good..

The former owner had fun cutting metal out to try and save weight. The pass. door was actually pretty staright but he cut all the inside panel out. ( I will have to get a pic later). He also cut up the floor brace 4 the driver seat and the mount 4 the seat belt. Damnit! I have a welder and plenty of scrap stell to work with though. I was gonna use integra seats anyway so the mounts would have needed work.

I paid a litle more for the headlamp assemblies but they are the glass ones that I hope will last longer than the plastic ones that fog up / fade.

I threw in the climate boxes and made sure the air blows out all the vents at the proper speeds when commanded. The headlights work as well as all the taillights.. The wipers are acting funny so I think I will just try another switch. The SRS light was stuck on since the air bag isnt there. I just unplugged the air bag connector from the cluster so I dont have 2 look at it. The parts car in the junk yard had a sunroof and Id love to go back and get the roof to mold it into my hatch. I dont have that kind of time unfortunately. It also looked like the brakes were much bigger. I guess the EX civics have bigger brakes. I went to another yard to get fenders but there werent any straight ones there. They want too much $ anyway. There had to have been at least six 90-93 integras. One of them had complete interior that was near mint. That car should be at my house! I did luck into the front bumper support for $15 from someone local and I should be getting a hood for $20 from a friend of mine.

Another WTF! The fuel lines are gone. So I will be bending new ones or whatever it takes. I have access to an integra shell and it may give me something to work with for the lines.

Got the amber corner lamps off ebay. pretty sweet. Went back 2 the yard to get the wiper switch but it was busted up. People really dont give a #$%@ at the yard and just beat stuff up and throw it around if they dont need it. This weekend Im going to pick up a hood and some gsr seats. I started looking at the mount for the rear seats and its cut up. Damnit!

I love projects like this because you can make it completely your own from scratch but at the same time...you start from scratch so there's a lot of time and money. Good luck man!

Kewl man, thanx.
I was thinking the same thing. I have seen a few really clean hatches for 2-3k but then u just end up ripping out all the stock stuff anyway. And u know u want to paint it all fresh and clean since the paint is showing its age. This car will truly be mine now that I have personally turned almost every nut and bolt.

Im back. Its been a while and I finally scored a parts car. Its a 95 teg that has kindfully donated its 4 wheel discs and master cylinder with booster. I also used the full front cradle with power steering. The front and rear sway bars are on now as well. The holes for the rear sway bar bushing brackets are there but they are not threaded so I gotta work on that. Thinking about using the teg dash too If I can swing it.

use the steering rack from the teggie too.. it has a faster turning ratio

oh and to use the teg dash you'll need to modify the civic door panels and part of the dash on the back

Its cool how so much of these two different cars are the same. I ended up pulling all the fuel lines out of the teg and they go right in the hatch. The only major difference was the very end in the engine compartment where the line meets the fuel filter. All I have to do is use a teg filter and Im good. I also used the gas tank straps, fuel filler neck and hoses from the teg. The fuel tank is quite similar but the sending unit for the gauge is in a different spot.

yeah my hatch had a manual rack so I used the power unit from the teg. I didnt even drain the fluid out, just pulled the whole thing out as an assembly with all the lines still hooked up.

I did not realize I had to mod the door panels to fit the teg dash and i like my door panels just the way they are. I did a quick search 4 it but did not find a detailed thread.

basically all you have to do is cut some of the plastic from the back of the panel so part of the dash sits flush.. i've seen a detailed write-up.. i'll see if i can dig it up
