The Blackberry Dude
Hey guys, so I am moving back into an apartment complex soon and I want my car to be a little protected. I do not want to spend a ton of money on a super great alarm system or anything, but I do realize that 92-95 civic have maintained the highest stolen vehicle for many years so I would like something to discourage theives.

I do not know anything about alarm systems at all. I currently have a 92 civic DX. Any suggestions for a fairly inexpensive but good alarm system? Mostly I figure that an alarm system isn't going to stop theives no matter how good it is. But I do figure that some kind of alarm that you can tell is there will at least discourage people a little and maybe decrease my chances of it getting stolen.

Ideas? Suggestions?

I also have no idea what a decent alarm system would cost, my general price range is between $100 and $200. Am I being unrealistic?

you said it yourself.. an alarm system doesnt work really.... dont be lazy.. its probably the best security your car can get

all it takes is a disconnected battery cable and the alarm is useless... i've had my car to where i couldnt start it even w/ a key unless i did something first.. they still got away w/ the car... the boot is the only thing that would make me feel secure...FYI, they usually tow cars off on a trailer

if your willing to spend bout 250 you can get a basic viper peice and then add on a backup battery, then have shop ad on at least 1 pezzo siren they are for your interior and make it so loud .... i had two of those on inside my car ... backup battery helps. but lets be honest if someone wants your car they gonna take it . what i do is park as close to my window as possible so i can keep my window open and hear it make shure ya face is off every night and don't never ever go home banging your stereo or showin what you have off its the quickest way to get jack i live in cincy and ive seen it many many times

Too much work every time

you may as well just find a thief and give them your car if this is going to be your attitude. security systems do not work on thieves with any kind of knowledge or determination.

bullshit. my sisters alarm on her expedition was not armed for one night and theives broke in and stole their kenwood 7" touch screen out of the dash. they got a viper alarm put back on it and nobodys fucked with it since. she lives in ft. myers florida too in a ghetto ass apartment complex.

thats a Ford... not a Honda, people will break your steering column and push your shit onto a trailer ... thats why my suggestion is the Denver Boot

that no joke. I never had my system on in my car when i got to my old appartment but the first day i moved in I was unloading stuff and had my hatch open for a while. I forgot to remove my face plate also. I went out the next day and somone had jimmied my lock and stole my cd player, sub, and about $200 in hand tools. Didn't get the amp though, it was in the spare tire well, haha. I guess you win some and you lose some, but oh well dont even have the car anymore.

yeah, but its the point that alarms actually do work in my opinion, hers is pretty theft prone too it has 20's and a push bar and had that stereo in it and i think they want to do more to it but its not stock by any means so the alarm definitely helps

If she's got an Expedition on 20s with a push bar and flip up screens then why does she live in a "ghetto ass apartment complex"???

Priorities I guess, huh?

Anyway, that video was fucking stupid...

yeah, idk why they stay there, and they got a hell of a deal on that expedition anyway

is it more work than recovering a stolen car?

1) don't leave anything in your car worth stealing. worst case scenario you change out a broken window.

2) if someone REALLY wants the whole car, they will get it. whether they wait until you park or if they rob you at gun point. they will get it.

the only thing you can do with a honda is get full coverage insurance and cross your fingers.
