Right now, I'm living in my family's house. It's going to have to get sold here eventually. My Mom is hoping it'll sell before Christmas. It's not even on the market yet. My Mom and siblings are living in podunk Claremont, MN (population 650) with her parents. My Dad is living in Everett, WA with his roommate. Once the house sells, I'm going to obviously find another place to live.

My options currently are to:

A) Get a place here with some friends.
B) Live with my grandparents in MN
C) Live with my great aunt's daughter and her husband (who live in Mankato, MN), whatever that makes them to me. They've got a supposedly giant house with basically another living quarters downstairs, another kitchen bedroom. They've even got a home theater that slopes down and has some big recliners.

So option C seems like the obvious choice to go with. I'll even be able to transfer to a Kohl's right in town there. I'll lose all my friends and be around my family. I'll be able to go to school there. This choice is basically a whole new start to my life.

What do you guys think? When it comes down to it I know I should choose option C, but I'm a little scared of making that decision.

Comments and opinions are welcomed.
 
Go with C. Starting over in a whole new town sucks believe me I know. But with you still going to school at least you've got an easy way to make new friends. You've got a job in place. And a bad ass house to stay in. It could be worse. Again, believe me I know.
 
I also say option C. If you wind up unhappy and want to leave, you will have to work hard at getting on your feet and going on your own. If that's the case, you should have plenty of motivation to do so and will appreciate things a bit more.
 
option C..sometimes a restart isnt a bad thing..especially in your situation.it might be rough but itll all work out in the end
 
Me. I moved out into a new town when I turned 18. I didn't really have the same friends, just a handful that I kept in touch with and started a new life pretty much. I was able to create new more productive relationships and surround myself with good people.

Best thing I ever did. It wasn't far away from my family I guess, but far enough away where I saw them on holidays besides my mom.
 
I'd go with option D. pick up and move to a place where there's a lot of government work. When shit hits the fan like the last year, those places tend to not get faed all that much.

You're young, you have MANY options open. From your list Option C is the best, but. I'd much rather just make the jump, find a room for rent and get a job in the food world to make some easy money.

Lots of places in Maryland are hiring. Lots of money to be had if you're a good server. once you get up running, take a few classes at the local CC and if you like it, cut back work parttime get a school loan and go to college full time. Or get into a trade.
 
I concur, option c would be the way to go. I got dropped off in a city I had been to a handful of times shortly after graduation Highschool and learned a helluva lot about myself and got to make some new friends and contacts. It is a right of passage of sorts getting dumped off in the middle of no where and fending for your self. Even if you have a safety net in place.
 
I hear the state run prisons offer very comfortable amenities.
 
Shit they eat better than I do I'm sure. You just gotta look take care of the cornhole, man.
 
brrr, minnesota. mankato is a university town though - you could chase chicks all day long. :shrug2:
 
a) will ruin you financially and you'll hate life having a near min. wage job
b) jsut sounds boring
c) sounds the best
 
This is a tough one.....but there is one thing i know...nothing beats having really good friends nearbye....I would say of all those choices if you have good friends you can live with, take that road, even though your only 19 and C would be a pretty good choice...

Also with C you prolly talking a completely different life style then what your used.

In short I am voting A, I totaly disagree with Brian, i think getting out on your own will teach you financial responsibilty. Living with your relatives won't because there will be no threat of homelessness if you dont pay your rent. I wish i moved out sooner then i did.

The problem is, can you even MAKE rent?

$8 /hr full time = $320 a week, take home, $250 x 4 = 1000. most rent = 6-800. then, power, water, heat, etc etc, food, insurance, yadda yadda.
it doesn't work.

Even our 15 year old servers make 10+ an hour easily.

Retail jobs in this area pay around 10-12 an hour. 15 for managers. + all workers get commission.

It's easily do able. but only if he really wants to do it.
