boost cooler?

I remember reading some tuning magazine a while back and remember seeing something about boost coolers. I'm just wondering if anyone has actually tried one of these systems or something similar, granted they aren't to expensive..company depending, but for those who have tried them have you noticed a difference and would you mind sharing what your set-up is?

Snow Performance: Stage 1 Boost Cooler?

thanks

yeah same here, quite a few company's make them, like from what I've read it's like a toned down meth injector, but I just wanted to get some other peoples inputs

looks like it's for truck and not cars anyway. there are about 500 ways i would improve power before adding that. if you need something like that, you are looking for a shortcut. build it right. build it once.

They make them for just about anything with forced induction. HEREs their list.

Some domestic magazine did an article about snow performance. Cant remember who as it was probably 3-5 years ago. But the highlights I remember were that they noticed they were able to achieve pretty decent gains while using the cooler, easy installation, and it allows you to just use windshield washer fluid as its pretty much the same mix.

I dont really see that ass a shortcut. Its more of a safety net. Thats like saying running race fuel in a high compression engine is a shortcut because you could just lower the compression ratio.

they make them for cars and trucks. I was thinking about getting one once I finally do the forced induction root but I just wanted to see some reviews. Some tests were showing as high as 70 or 80 more hp, I can't remember if it was to the wheels or not. like I said it was a while ago I read this

Even if thats at the flywheel that's pretty damn substantial. A note for those unfamiliar though is that the cooler doesnt alone make the power, it alows you to safely squeeze more power out of the setup you already have. Like an added intercooler or as I likened it to before race fuel.

i would use a nitrous system before i started trying to mess with a methane mix. plus, this probably complicates any predictable tuning. just my .02.

a good intercooler is all you need. factory intercoolers are garbage and half-hidden most the time. There, they might make sense.

If I remember correctly it has its own software that injects it as necessary. And nitrous is a lot more expensive and difficult to refill as compared to going down to Auto Zone and picking up a gallon or two of windshield washer fluid. And damn near everywhere has banned nitrous for street use anyway.

That depends solely on the tuner. Keep in mind that to take full advantage of the meth you'll need an egt gauge and a wideband.

meth injection has been around for a long time and it does help with a couple of things

you can spray it in y our charge pipe at the hot side of the inter cooler for best cooling and better atomization

or you can put it right before the throtle body and use it as extra fuel to compensate for a fuelsystem that is to small

it also raises the octane of the fuel in your engine allowing more timing/boost

also meth will help keep egts and piston tops cooler making things safer than pump gas alone

I personaly wouldnt run one but they are helpfull if your car is tuned for it

A lot of domestic/truck owners with forced induction use methanol systems, it's not uncommon. It can get a bit inconvenient on a street car, because in order to get the best results you will of course need to tune for it. Once you're tuned for it, if you happen to run out...

Its not like it injects it all the time. It senses its need and injects as necessary. Dont mash the throttle everywhere you go and you should be fine. Throw a gallon in the trunk. If your EGTs start to rise check your reservoir and add fluid accordingly. I saw an optional level indicator on their site somewhere.
