at least I posted pictures of us in my thread.....

Nice!

There's going to be an alternate version of this thread in the NWS section right?:p

nope, sorry, Mrs isn't down

if you dont mind telling how much did it set you back

Quite a bit, but we got a great deal because we went with a tour. Had I done it on my own we would have paid probably 30% more. Food is expensive there but 70% of our meals were included. It wasn't garbage either, 4 course meals, veal, wine, etc. I put on some weight there. You stay in **** hotels, go to the front of every line and get around in a Mercedes coach. You can't do this much on your own unless you are willing to really unleash the bank.

As for the price, I don't like to talk numbers but including gifts for friends, optional stuff etc we spent just south of five digits and spent two weeks there. If you book a tour plan on about $700 extra, per person per week while you are there.

Are there really people frozen in hardened lava in Pompeii?

They were buried in volcanic ash at about 240 degrees Fahrenheit. They suffered a sort of combination of suffocation, burning and being crushed to death... not pretty. When they excavated the site they had found that everything but the bones had rotted away, but the hardened ash had left a cavity which matched their form at the time of death, so they poured plaster into the cavities...

see?
