The headphone jack on my 2nd gen iPod touch stared to go out, I squerted a bit of WD-40 in there and fixed the problem but it seeped into my screen and it's f-ed up. Colors and defination are fine but the brightness is blotchy all over the place. Every thing still works fine, I'm typeing from it right now.

Do you thing it will kinda, dry out?

considering it's not water... nope. :p

never would have thought to try to fix an electronic device by squirting liquid into it.

^^^ agreed... why the hell would you squirt wd40 into your ipod?

WD-40 has always fixed electrical problems I've had. I only use it for music and email anyway. It'll hold up until something better comes up, like a touch with a camera.

But there was still nothing worse than both sides cutting out while you walked with it in your pocket. Yes I tried to clean it out with a rag before the wd.

Should have put the WD-40 on a paper towel and then put the paper towel in the headphone jack. Worked like a charm on my nano.

Open the case, remove the battery, and flush the whole thing with denatured alcohol (100% alcohol, not rubbing alcohol which is mostly water) repeatedly and thoroughly. Then allow to dry in a well ventilated environment for about a day or at least overnight. reassemble and see if it worked. The alcohol should displace any water trapped in the screen and then evaporate away.
Now, if it is the petroleum products in the WD-40 that are trapped in the screen, you will have to use some type of solvent or soap to remove them which will be MUCH more difficult.

Apple does not allow mere mortals to open an Apple product. Only the had of The Jobs it's self can coax open Pandora box!

This thread has also made me laugh. Well done!

Yeah, screw apple products. See if your warranty will cover intentionally squirting petroleum products into your electronic device

What you should have used was this:

And you should have applied it to a q-tip and swabbed the inside of the headphone jack with that.
