ok, so i hva ebeen planing on doing my MPFI swap, and looking for a motor (mine burns oil) i have one last part to find... a dissy 0bd0 for mpfi.. so i call a guy who said he had one. he also has a zc DOHC engine. needs rings(pland on rebuilding any motor i found anywho) , but 100 for both. how do i tell if it will or wont drop into my civic using my surrect dx trans (si hopefully if i find one soon).

how do i tell if it will fit into mine now using my civic trans? ive found more then one thread that says the zc fits.. but never lists what GEN zc does or doesnt.. so before i go buy one and rebuild it to find out it doesnt work how do i make sure?

thanks for the help. ive only been here for a few weeks but LOVE HS...

ok thanks. thats what i thought. i just got confused by reading articles that dont say "YES IS BOLTS RIGHT IN" lol i just wanted the 100% by someone who knows. thanks thats a great link btw... thanks again

the 84-87 ZCs with 4 valve cover attaching bolts in the center, like this, won't fit

the 88-95 ZCs with 4 valve cover attaching bolts on the outside edge, like this, will fit

ok, so one last question, i got the motor. but no intake minifold. i have read that the sohc D intake mani wont work. but came accross a post that said he used his intake mani off of a d15b7... i know ill have to mod the exh. to fit but no biggie.. how about the intake?

awsome thanks for all the help. i had the motor at the machine shop. had them go threw the head. did a heavy port and polish. has anyone raised compression on this motor? i am building it for a DD, i was thinking raising it to 10:1, or 11:1, but i am curiouse what you guys think is a good DD set up. i want to keep it all motor and pump out as much as posible with it being DD quality...

any opinions on block gaurds? is it worth it?

i also bought a chip for my PM6 si ecu. should this making it good enough? or should i have it flashed with a better map?

what injectors would you recomend? just the stock civic ones? or should i step it up?

any input for better DD/power ides would be great.

if your going for DD the stock injectors will work fine..a block guard will not do much unless you plan on going high hp later, also if you chip it,you should have it basemapped...do not buy a premapped chip it will blow your motor up..and yes you can run a higher compression ratio on a DD

good to know about the preprogrammed chips. (Exactly why i wanted to ask) i know high comp is ok on a DD but should i limit it? would 12-1 be to much? should i stay at around 10.5-1? i am interested in the best way to do this. i have read articles about how the high comp headgaskets leak and are not a good idea.. so should i just mill the head .8mm for 10.5-1? or throw some pistons in it for 11.5 to one and run factory (integra head gasket) ... ive found some pistons online for 150, that what my machine shop wants to mill the head and deck the block.. so whats better? have you heared of or used NPR pistons? ive never heared of them.... thanks agian...

do the head and block..then you will know the surfaces are straight and true..
also the only down side i see to high compression is that you must run atleast 93 octane..which is obviously most expensive..but high compression motors if built right can last forever
also 12 to 1 is the normal for people who do allout n/a builds so i dont rlly think it would be ideal for DD...id stick with maybe high 10's low 11's for streetability..
because remember..you will be starting..and yea the oem starter will be ok,,after awhile they do start to shit out..
my friwend had that problem on his 12to1 type-r

ok, thanks for the info, i wont be "racing" it just want ti to be faster or as fast as it can be staying in the "safe zone" for now.. if you can say there is a safe zone lol....

the head and block are straigh and true, but ill do it anyway. i run 91 (highest for my elevation) right now anyway. still feels cheap to fill compared to my jeep lol...

thanks agian for the info and fast replys.

so recap,

i have the DOHC ZC, with the serial # starting with 2 (valvecover bolts on edges)
4-1 header, 2.5" full piping
intake (short ram) deep gutters here
PM6 ecu (will chip when i can dyne tune it)
dc dohc dissy
all the stuff for si conversion
93 injectors (240cc)
adjustable cam gears
mild to heavy ported head
lightened flywheel (ACT 11.5lb)
stage 2 act clutch
(will raise compression to 10.5-1)

anything elss you would recoment doing with this build?

yea.a streettune on that pm6...if you did port work and your planning on using the adjustable cam gears then you need a tune

yeah i assumed so.. what do u mean by street tune... is that a type? or brand? never acually had a car "tuned"

oh so "he" acualy tunes it to your driving habits/style while in acual driving... so whats the diffrence (advantage) of that vs dyne/wideband tune?

sorry for all the questions... just curious and excited... lol
