i built my sol from the ground up... i know every nut and bolt... but i cant figure out why third gear, at about 7200 it feels like its cutting back... it has a chiped p28 so i can rev it to 10000 (obviously i dont cuz itll blow up) i normally shift around 7800 (its a z6) its ported and polished adjustable fuel presure regulator accel coil new icm new wires new plugs ls throttle body cat back cold air think thats about it... i thought it wasnst getting enough air so i put an obx intake many on it and the fuels at 40 psi took it on the high way no diff. first and second dont do it only third right around 100... and ideas or imput would be greatly appreciated
 
well unless there are cams and such 7200 is about all that its good for, what do you mean by cutting back like loss of power or stumbling ?

unless you've shortened the stroke on the engine and lowered rotational mass (i normal by product of destroking) you're not really making power after 7200 rpm's in a z6.
 
it's cutting back because the stock cams don't make power past the 7200 rpm redline. you're not noticing it as much in 1st or 2nd because you are going so quickly through the rpm band. in 3rd you are sustaining the rpms for a longer period of time past 7200 and therefore you now feel the engine falling on its face.
 
im planing on boosting it in like a month or two i have evrything except charge pipes blow off valve, fuel pump, and s300, should i put like a stage 1 cam for the time being or waste of money???
 
so im guessing 115 is about all that cars guna do unless i go to the salt flats lol


I don't know about that, my Dx Coupe does 134 mph befor it can't push it self any faster, now 120mph and On ZOMG have like a 3/4 of a mile for the last 14mph but still :p
 
im guessing your running a base map, they suck you need to get that thing tuned so you cam make some power.....if your engine is stock your going to make stock power at stock limits. just because you can rev it that high dosent mean your making power all the way to 10k.

also I hope you dont mis shift, kiss the rod bolts and bearings goodbye at 10k rpm.
