Flying to San Antonio tomorrow morning and the plan is to jump on Saturday morning provided the weather cooperates.

My wife set this up as an anniversary gift last year when I was in TX visiting a friend, but it was overcast and I wasn't able to jump. Hopefully everything works out this time around. I should have some great pics and a DVD of the whole thing.

On a side note, 2 people in Cleveland were killed on Saturday when their chute malfunctioned, but I suppose the prospect of death makes it a little more exciting.

Just curious if anyone here has ever done this sort of thing before.

never heard of any skydiving companies that will let you do your first jump solo....outside of the army but even then your first jump is usually on a static line.

i'm not sure but i think you can jump solo on a static line your first time. it requires like 8 hours of training though.

I will be doing a tandem jump, and we jump from 14000 feet, freefalling like 10000 in just under a minute.

And i don't plan on shitting myself. :D

Sorry, didn't mean specifically you, just that anticipated doom... thats enough for me to stay here. on earth. forever.

I hope for the last year, you and the wife might have gotten on better terms.....

Marriage is harsh....

Haven't done it yet but have always wanted to. I will eventually!

Have fun and let's see the video!

cant understand why anyone would jump out of a perfectly good airplane :shrug2:

whatever ever happend to good ole fashsion hooking your nuts or nipples up to a car battery for a good thrill........

Where are you going to jump? like what company? I've jumped a few times in San Antonio

San Marcos = College girls

<3. Texas State is a party school.

Imagine the oh shit feeling when your chute doesn't deploy.
You have two chutes and crazy amounts of precautions. The fact that someone died recently means someone wasn't doing their job.

When I said that to a friend who's an instructor, he said, "You're assuming the plane is perfectly good. They don't always maintain them that well. What's the worse case scenario if it dies mid flight? You have to jump with a parachute?" I laughed my ass off.

I've always wanted to go too. Recently I want to get my certification and my own chute too. The same friend told me they did a blackout jump recently. What is a blackout jump you say? Wait for the new moon and jump at midnight. Pitch black. I was in awe. I want to do it so bad. It's totally illegal, but who cares.
