i decided to drive my integra to work since it hadnt been started in nearly a week. i just make it a mile down the road and i run right into a speedtrap. i know the cops always scope this area pretty hard, but i guess i couldnt resist goosin it a little bit one time. of course this one time is the time a sheriff is sitting behind the bushes....

i acknowledged that i saw him and began to pull over.... i had been doing around 60 in a 35 at that exact moment DOH! i tell him that i hadnt started the car in a week and that it was my race car (stretching the truth lol) and i drive it to work occasionally. i told him that i had just got on it a for a second and let off and that i was sorry for speeding (which was all the truth!) he tells me he got me at 57 in a 35, takes my paperwork and walks away without saying much.

im thinking for sure im getting a ticket, which really sucks because currently i have a completely clean driving record for once in my life! he comes back over after a few mins and asks about why i have honda emblems on my integra, asks how much horsepower it has, what it runs, etc, etc. he then tells me that "taking the circumstances into consideration ill just give you a warning." im shocked and totally stoked that im gettin out of a 22mph over the limit ticket! the dude had to be like 50 years old and he let a riceburner off a speeding ticket, i love it! i feel like its my lucky day.

SHORT STORY: got pulled over 22 mph over the speed limit in a speed trap and got let off for no good reason :D

moral of the story: don't be a fucking douchebag and show a little respect, cops will treat you well.

exactly.

i just thought it was awesome that he realized that its a pain in the ass to drive a fast car on roads that are all 35mph or less :)

We have some cool cops like that around here too (most are older). I got off one ticket by letting the cop drive my prelude and prove that i was speeding cause there was something wrong with the fuel pump.

"Officer, i swear, if i push down on the gas normally, the engine dies. If i push it to the floor board it almost dies and then roars to life. I'll let you drive it if you want to see."

"Alright sir, I'm up for it."

*starts the car*......*cranks and dies*

"You have to give it a LITTLE bit of gas when you start it"

*starts the car and gurgles a bit and comes to life*

"Alright, sir, we're just going around the block."

He made it about half way down the road (1/8 of a mile ish) and it died when he tried to shift to second.

He got it started back up and then got on it in second and saw he was doing 40 in a 30.

After that he did a u-turn, didn't even make it around the block and drove it back to his partner waiting by the car and said:

"Son, you've GOT to get that fuel pump looked at, but I'll let you off the hook today."

He gave me his cell number and told him that if any one in the town i was in pulled me over to just call him since he was the watch commander.

Crazy story and if it hadn't happened to me i wouldn't have believed it.

I used to think that cops were assholes, but I'll be honest.. if you don't give them a reason to pull you over, they usually won't.

Now on rare occasion, you do get one that is having a bad day and will nit pick your car... I've had a couple of those haha.

try coming to Cali this guys are on the prowl..their goal is to give everyone and their mother tickets so that the state gets back up to budget no matter how nice u are to them lol

probably because you were acting like a douche.. i've been pulled over several times for speeding.. let off all but once.. .. hell , even doing 84 in a 45... just gotta be polite and straight up w/ them..

Ill come out there, not drive like a tool, then not get any tickets. Its not hard, if your being a dumb ass your going to get busted.

I have a same story. Right after my friend got the SR swap done in his 240 we were out cruising around come up to an intersection 11o clock at night no one is around (so we thought:ph34r:) He gets on it and gets sideways through this intersection then the whirlys come on. Cop comes up to the car asks my friend for the usual, then asks what all he had done to it, friend tells him its swapped, his reply is, SR20? Me and my friend just looked at each other like WTF. The cop ended up having a 240 too and we spent the next 20 mins bsing with him about it. Hands back everything and says, "Have a good night guys, dont let anyone else see you getting loose like." And walks away.

Same thing happened to me right after I got my car supercharged. I admitted my mistake, apologized, and was let off.

I don't know about anywhere else, but I've noticed that sheriff deputies are a lot more lenient when it comes to traffic violations then local/county/state police officers. I live in a county where the Sheriffs Department is the only county law enforcement entity within the county (there is still local town/city police departments within the county), where as the other surrounding counties have both a Police Department and a Sheriffs Department. When I run into a sheriff deputy he'll/she'll usually let me go with a warning, but if its a police officer I'll get a ticket for everything the officer can find on my car that is illegal modified and whatever offense he pulled me over for.

I give you a lot of credit... right when you put your blinker on to pull over (when you acknowledged he was pulling u over).... I would've just slammed second n boogied. but sometimes it works out better just pulling over :)

Whenever you encounter a cop, you give up all of your rights on the spot. You cannot run away, cannot stick up for yourself, cannot defend yourself . . . all of those things are completely illegal to do in the presence of a cop.

I am respectful to cops . . . yet they always give me the short end of the stick. I hate them. I hate having to give up my rights while interacting with them. They can do whatever the fuck they want to you.

Why is it like this?

Cops work for the govt. The govt hates you. Therefore, cops hate you.

If you are one of the few cops who tries to do a good job & act respectfully/professionally, then you can also go fuck yourself. I'm sure you've slipped up and given people a fine/ticket/hard time just because you were having a bad day.

EDIT:

If you live in a small town where everyone knows eachother, the police are generally much better to deal with IF you are respectful. I live in a huge city. They see us as $$$ signs . . they get to fuck with us AND pay the state's bills at the same time. Its awful.

I guess you've been pulled over a lot for "no good reason at all" and given tickets alot...

Everyone needs to remember that school is in session and a lot of cops really crack down in the morning and later afternoon. We have already had two kids killed this year, one in Spokane just after school and another little kid a couple of blocks from where my boy goes to preschool.

This is a good point, and I bet you 2 times a week I see some fucking moron drive right by the school bus my son gets on and off of. Red lights flashing, stop sign out, doesn't matter. People are in too much of a hurry or talking/texting to even notice a school bus full of 7 year olds.
