I at first wanted them to come here just so I could see them. But then some good points were brought up to me. Who is going to pay for the "necessary improvements?" Me Who is going to foot the bill again once they are gone?. Me. Why does it take an olympic bid to fix the mother effin freeways around here? Because corrupt ass Chicago politics only "care" to improve the city when its self serving. They can somehow come up with the money when there's national attention, but if no ones watching, who cares. Who would get those contracts other than the local governments pals that give money to their election funds? We've had the same construction on the same roads since I moved here, but if we won the bid EVERYTHING would be done in time for the Olympics? BULLSHIT! That just shows that they take their sweet ass time to line their pockets first. Quick completion of construction doesn't make them any money, but F the people using the roads... Fix what NEEDS to be fixed, improve the damn things that need to be improved for the sake of the people already here, not the potential temporary tourists for a month or so in seven years, come up with a budget that creates a positive balance instead of running (and I use that term loosely,) THEN worry about an Olympic bid. Would it have been cool to have the Olympics in my own backyard? Yes. Would it have done any good for the city? Maybe, but not more than it would have perpetuated the downfalls of this town. We can't handle the day to day traffic to and from the city on a day to day basis now. How the FUCK could these messed up roads handle more than a month with an influx of Olympic spectators? At first I wanted them to come. But now im glad they arent.
