Well winter's coming and I need a winter beater, can't drive the rx7 where I live, (SK, Canada) land of dam cold winters. Anyways it's a 92 civic hb (no vtec:() but it runs great, burns a bit of oil, drives shifts fine. It's ugly but it'll work for now, tires are good, it heats so I can't complain. Getting it for $900, which is pretty cheap around here. I think I'm going to paint it primer grey for now, to offset all the washed out black. However it's got me thinking it may be my next project, probably not till spring.
I'm just pumped I get to drive a fwd instead of rwd for winter this year.
*Edit*: sorry for the big pictures.

If its a 2ndary vehicle, $900 is a deal . . . esp if you can do a little work on it yourself.

Yah its a secondary, and I only do my own work, geez I can't imagine paying thousands of dollars for something as simple as replacing a head gasket. There was a dodge spirit in the other day where I work and I think they spent somewhere around 3000-3500 bucks for a head gasket replacement, I think the head was warped and everything and there were probably a couple little things but it's mostly labour; I'd rather do it myself.

looks like its in decent shape
and the shit-tastic EG seats are out of there, so it will probably be comfortable to drive

for $900 id jump on it

Yah I ended up picking it up tonight, so far I'm loving how it drives, nothing clangs or clunks..unlike my rx7 which seriously needs struts. However he did tell me the door guide for the drivers door was off or something, so what do I do on the way home I roll it down, and can't get it back up....so I jiggled with it for a bit and forgot to be careful:eek:..yes I know my own stupidity but I ended up breaking the window :slap: ..so now I have to try and find a new one, I'm hoping a wrecker will have one tomorrow, actually I'm praying they will...I haven't ever put a window in but I can't imagine it's hard...my buddy just did his no his 90' prelude and it took him an hour, I'm hoping I'll be the same.

I forgot...yes the seats are comfortable^_^..I believe they were from a newer gs-r but I could be wrong. Also quick question does anyone know if the window would be the same for the coupe and the hb...or are they shaped differently??

I probably would have played with and broken the window too. Nice find though. And who are you kidding? It has project written all over it. I don't think you even have a choice in the matter.

Are those gauges in the dash? Someone's former project perhaps.

Yea, it does look like someones stripped former project. That's ok though, you picked it up for cheap. Good luck finding a window for it.

Definitely sounds like someone's former project. The smoking is a good indication of the engine being run hard or has been opened up before. But hey, for $900, you can't beat it.
How many miles are on it?
Also, I think the glass is the same, but don't take my word for sure.

when you're done with it this winter, let me know. i'll give you 900 even after you've driven it all winter.

Fuck maaco and their shit paint jobs. He should just diy like Matt did.

i've had 3 cars done, under $800 each, all great work. i don't know where you go, but i've had good experiences. i just wont drive off the lot without giving it a white glove inspection.

i had a car done by maaco
the ambassador special
came out real nice
was just a flip car anyway

Would be a better outcome, but I'm not sure if it'd be worth it on a beater lol
yeah, but maaco is CHEEEEAAAAPPPP. and its a winter beater so who cares?
Word.

They do warranty their work, so don't leave until you are satisfied.

I had a friend of a friend get a job done at MAACO. Cost him ~$1k and he left the shop with runs in the paint, fisheyes, etc.

Two weeks later he wrecked the car. Fail.

I wouldn't be surprised if the OP turned the beater into his own project car. He's definitely going to love the gas mileage if nothing else.

if you're going to shoot it grey you might as well shoot it single stage red so at least it matches the door jams

^^We'll see... I'm still thinking flat grey..for now anyways. I found a window for fifty bucks, so I think I'm going to try and put that in tonight, doesn't look hard at all. Apparently it's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow. I was hoping for a late winter not an early one...just means I have to park the rx7 even earlier. As far as maaco goes..NO..the shop around here sucks...I mean I can do better work. They did a couple of my friends' vehicles...there was runs, dings they were supposed to fix, etc. On the plus side my cousin used to be a painter/bodyman and his garage is set up for it, so he's always an option. Right now I'm broke and still trying to pay for school..

I do however have a ton of tires some good and some not so bad lol. I have a full set of all seasons on decent 15" rims from my old rx7, a set of 17" rims/tires with 235's in the back from my current rx7. Another pair of 225/40r17's in the garage. And a set of four winter tires as well as four all seasons, for the civic I just bought, pratically brand new. Also a set of slightly curbed 16" momo rims from a buddies 92' integra gs-r he just gave me. ^_^
