Ok, I'm new at this. I've never seen a ZC engine before. We have a customer coming in to our shop next week for a timing belt/water pump replacement. She has a 1990 Civic Si, BUT her engine number is a ZC 5713264.
So what timing belt & water pump do we use?

Thanks

I don't recall whether it was a DOHC or SOHC. The car was in about a year ago for some minor repairs. The mechanic noticed that there was some seepage from the water pump, and an oil leak from the cam and/or crank seals. He suggested that she get the timing belt & water pump replaced. She couldn't afford it at that time.
So what timing belt/water pump for the SOHC, and what timing belt/water pump for the DOHC?

Ok. just looked at the notes from a year ago. I'm pretty sure it's a SOHC. Here's something the mechanic wrote:

"ZC motor has been installed - timing marks do not line up."

I remember him showing me this, and I believe there was only 1 cam pulley.

If its the Sohc you can run the timing belt and water pump for the d16a6 Gates # T145. If its the Dohc run the same water pump but a timing belt for a 88 prelude 2.0 si. Oem # 14400-PK2-004. Or you can run an aftermarket belt of your choice such as a Gates # T142 or the T142RB. I have been running over a year and a half on the T142RB on my crx and have nothing but great things to say about the gates racing belts.

I found out that it is in fact a SOHC so we'll be using the Honda belt #14400-PM6-004 (we don't use the Gates belts). THANK YOU very much for the info! :)

Now, about the timing marks: is it normal for the timing marks to not line up? The mechanic said:

"When the crank pulley is lined up, the cam is too far off for the car to be running as good as it does."

Is this normal on the ZC engine?

maybe it has a usdm crank pulley since the jdm ones use different belts

JDM SOHC ZC non-VTEC timing belt installation is same as USDM D16A6 Si engine - with engine at TDC on compression on cylinder #1, line up TDC on the crankshaft timing belt gear with the arrow on the oil pump cover - if timing belt cover and crank pulley are already on, line up the TDC mark on the crank pulley (the single mark off to the right of the 3 ignition timing marks) with the pointer on the timing belt cover - the camshaft timing gear has a mark at about 7 o'clock when "UP" is generally up - this mark lines up with the pointer on the inside timing belt/cylinder head back cover - refer to Si in the picture below:
