i know its been a while since ive been on honda swap. its cuz ive been really busy since i moved back to california and ive hardly worked on my lude at all. i have a really tough decision to make and i need help making it. i have to choose between selling my lude and using the money to smog/register/improve upon my 97 golf(new car btw!) or keeping my lude and risk having another unregistered car in my possession.
heres the skinny:

my prelude is going to be a bitch to register because it has out of state plates, i dont have a 262 signed by the original owner, just the title and the tags expired in may of 06. its not ready to pass smog yet, still has a few small problems. all of this has been bothering me for so long, yet ive kept it. ive put so much work in to it, made it my own, but am now thinking about selling it. if i sell it, i can get the money to fix, smog and register the 97 golf which will be registered under both mine and my girlfriends names. another plus of selling it is i dont have to listen to my parents bitching about it sitting in their driveway anymore. i know in the future i can get another one, but i have a hard time letting go of things.

heres the big question..
keep the 1990 prelude with 207xxx miles on it that ive put more then a thousand dollars into and many many hours of research, repair, heartbreak and struggle. step up my hustle to cover the fees for the golf and let the lude sit in my driveway for an undisclosed period of time or sell it, cry for a couple hours then use the money to further improve the golf with 167xxx miles on it? basically, i need an objective partys opinion.

btw, how reliable are vw engines? is 167xxx a lot?

Seriously though, sell the lude. Its old, it has 200k+ on the clock. Get the dub legal and drive it until the wheels fall off. They are very reliable, although that one looks like its had a hell of a life so far.. Save up some money, clean up the dub but don't dump any money into it.. Then sell it in a year or two and buy a nice car with the $$ you've saved up.

i just bought it a couple days ago and it still needs to pass smog before i can register it. theres a couple small issues i need to fix before its ready to be smogged, but it passed its last inspection with flying colors so im not too concerned.

its crossed my mind. theres a golf MK4 at the pick n pull in stockton with an untouched v6 in it. :]
 
Cut and run. Quit wastin time on that thing before you get farther behind. When your dealin with a car with that many miles on it, youll fix one thing and another will break.
 
sell it. and if need be, throw in silly posing background girl with it to sweeten the deal.

Then you can register the VW in your name and only your name.

i know how you feel man. I had to part with my crx'x in the past because of money needed.

get rid of it and either save it or use it towards the VW. I wouldnt worry about a swap until the motor dies. They are strong engines.

And I agree with the need for more pics... and not of the cars.
 
i didnt' vote because there is no option for selling both and getting a better car. just get something decent and don't fuck with swaps or extra bullshit.

an eg is 134215345x better than that prelude AND the vw.

you dont' have to get an eg, it was just an example. imho, both of those cars are not as good as what you can get for $4000. and if you sell both cars and have a little cash, you could get close.
