for the most part my b16 is stock i have full 2 3/4" exhaust intake a stage 4 clutch and a 10lb fly wheel i want to buy an ecu from Honda P28 OBD1 Chipped ECU HONDATA S300 NepTune eCtune:eBay Motors (item 260489700486 end time Oct-18-09 08:06:44 PDT)

what options do i want what basemap do i run? idk im new to the tuning thing. my car is already obd1 running a virgin p28 and it blows because i wont rev my car past 4k rpm. i just use it to get to work. HELP ME PLEASE.

There really is no reason to run any sort of tuning software with the mods you have, get the right ECU, P30 is what you need, the P28 is for the single cam.

the thing is i have a bad knock sensor and they are just as expensive. i also dont have 4 wire o2. i need an ecu anyway so why not get a chipped one right? i would like the shift light and maybe 2 step. but what is the full throttle shift all about?

and for base maps would a gsr, ctr or an itr base map be better for the b16

I have a P28, sent it to Xenocron and had it chipped with a P30 base (because thats the best one for the B16 because Honda says so) had the knock disabled and 2-step added all for right around $80 with a 3 day turn around. And if your using an OBDI ECU your going to need a 4-wire o2.

I'd like to see some knowledgeable guys make up a flowchart of some kind that shows what ECU's are best for what??

I've read and done searches on the different numbers and codes, but that doesn't tell much of what one is best for _____.

Like the mid 80's OBD0, Using Chrome or some other 'burning' program can you use a later models ECU?
Or for engines under 1700cc's, is ECU_______ better with these mods?
Engines over 2000cc's with heavy mods would do better starting with a ______ ECU chipped and socketed??

I think it would clear a lot up and even make it a 'sticky'
Heck, there even needs to be sticky's on what bolts to what.

best ecu for each obd1 is the one that came with the motor..
if its not available chip yours to the specs of the ecu you dont have

Like if you have a 85-87 crx si, you can run the 86-87 teg ecu for better performance as a plug and play (but you already know this) but can't use the 88-89.
I'm sure there are others that can be swapped from ____ to ____ that you don't have to spend $ on to reburn/chip/socket.
I mean like EFHONDAKID, How did he know to suggest a P30? Hearsay, Read it, past expierance?

I'd like to drop this B20/ys trans into my 90 civ dx. I was told that a Pm7 would work if I keep it pretty much stock and don't go big on cams or such..
BUT I don't know for certain if that's for sure correct/best for me. But I'd sure like to see a sticky from people in 'the know' that arent just trying to sell you "their" ECU for $$$$ that might not be that much different anywho.

I'm well aware that if I go up with the mods, that I'll most likely have to upgrade, but til I get to that point I just have to run what I gots.
And If I'm in the same situation of what looks like TONS of people here well, I think it couldn't hurt.. I wish i knew. I'd do a write-up and post it.

I said P30 because thats the stock OBDI ECU for the B16, PR3/PW0 is the OBD0 ECU. You should always match the correct ECU to the motor you are using, Honda wouldnt make so many different ECUs if you could efficiently run every motor off one ECU.

78civic you could run an OBD0 PR4 with the B20 in your EF without trouble because the B20 and the B18A1 are very similar, but for the best performance you should always run the ECU that matches the motor.

Thank you sir for the info, I think I still have that one from the teg.

But, Like Skellaghar picked the P-28. Is that because that particular ECU lends itself to different engines/setups?
Or, Will it get to a point that it won't 'do' enough and a stand alone would be better?
I know it all works quite easily but i'm just apprehensive of wiring and mixing and matching.

well the reaon i have a p28 is cause thats all i have to run it. but i would love to have the p30 but i need my ecu chipped and the p28 and p06 are most abundant ob1 ecus
