I bought a shell last month with glass, metal, and wheels installed. everything interior, lighting, wiring was in boxes. I was told it was an HF but after sifting through and installing the parts I found DX and HF Parts. My intentions was to put a d16a6 mpfi in it. Well The car came with no pcm and come to find out it has a dx engine harness. Im so pissed off. My buddy had a P06 and a dx intake so I have to roll with that till I figure out what to do. I found a complete 91 Si at the J yard. What I need to know is if I can plug and play an ECU, Engine Harness from an si to work in my what is believed to be HF? After researching the trans and hubs I believe I do have an HF. The hubs have a 25 spline count and the trans has a 23. Tell me what you think. Thanks in advance

yes you can plug the ecu in..no the si harness wont plug in..you have to rewire the engine harness from dpfi to mpfi..we have a write-up here in the tech section..
sounds to me like you have an hf with a bunch of mixmatched parts..no big deal really..

i know..thats depending if it is for real an HF though

If you take the chassis harness too, it will work. Check years too the 88-89 had a different rear chassis harness than the 90-91 (the tail lights have one more bulb). I just took all the harness out of the 89 si (the main chassis, rear chassis, tail lights, engine, and the dash) you should be able to just take the chassis and engine harness if they are both 91. The 91 dx that I have has "automatic seat belts" don't know what that means - I don't see a thing that is automatic about it but I just took the box out since I didn't have it in my 89 harness and they seem to work just fine. you need the injector resistor box from the si too.(silver box in the upper corner of the engine bay on the drivers side)

edit: I almost forgot you will need the intake manifold, injectors, fuel rail, etc. too

The thing I dont understand is that if its an HF how did the dx engine harness and p09 plug in and run dpfi? Im driving it everyday this way. Is this possible? My buddy has a salvage yard and I got the res box, ecu, harness, intake, and dizzy for $75. Is there anything else I need to finish this project? Hopefully someone can help me make sense of this frankenstien. I want to wrap it up this weekend. Thanks again

well crap, it didnt work so you might want to edit the vin off your post i tried lol

but if i remeber right if the 8th number is a 5 then its a dx sorry bro sounds like you got screwed if it was a 6 then it would be a hf

its a DX...you need to convert it to mpfi to run the d16a6..unless you wanna run it with a dpfi intake..kinda dumb if ya ask me

actually is a Std .. not a DX

thats wierd. Does the Standard or DX use the same axles? I Have HF axles with a 23 spline count on the outer. Anyhow is there anything else im forgetting when I go get my intake, res box, ecu, and harness? And can someone post a good link to the si wiring conversion? I had it saved to my favorites and got a new computer. Now cant find the one I liked. Thanks

Yeah I have a freshly rebuilt A6 in it with the dpfi intake on it right now. Its TURD-rific. Grandma can pass me with her walker (backwards). Agreed dumb but its my daily driver and need it on the road. So the dpfi had to do for now. My original plan was to run mpfi being that I was told it was an HF but after sifting through many boxes of parts that go to my car I found a DX harness. Now I will start from scratch and make it an Si.

if you take all of the harness thats the conversion take everything from front to rear and you would really be better off just doing a dpfi to mpfi swap dizzy ecu inj resistor box and intake there is a great write up here on the site
