im in the process of switching transmissions in my 89 crx. I have an hf trans that is going in and we noticed that the input shaft had a little wiggle to it that we thought we would need to fix. i went ahead and took out the one in the car in it had the same deal. so is this actually normal or do both have the same problem?

no it's not normal. the input shaft bearings are most likely fubared.

which you may end up needing it turns out lol

not trying to thread jack, but do you know where you can buy just the input shaft bearing instead of in a whole kit? ive looked everywhere but cant find just the bearing, im sure crxhf would appreciate the info as well!

we buy them from the local Honda dealer - there are 2 different bearings available, one for the small bearing case (DX/HF/etc.) and one for the large bearing case (Si/EX/ZC)

small bearing Part No. 91002-PHR-003 - 26mm i.d. x 52mm o.d. x 15mm thk.
large bearing Part No. 91002-PS0-003 - 26mm i.d. x 58mm o.d. x 15mm thk.

you will want to also replace the seal:

Part No. 91216-PL3-005
