WTF...none of you guys watch Baseball....no Yankees fans here but me?? how about Andy Pettit ,, jesus that guy in the post season is just phenonmenal. Anyways...what do you all think about the outcome.

i think the results will be the same, Yankees in 6. Yankees will take the first two games. Loose the first game in Phillie, win the Second, loose the 3rd(on purpose of course so they can bring it home to NY) to win game 6!

non baseball fans need not reply with "baseball sucks comments"

Its about time! They deserve to be there. I mean they've spent enough cash that they should just automatically get the Championship. Edit: What can I say though, I like the Dallas Cowboys. They open their checkbook and dont win jack.

I will say that I like a lot of the guys out there though. Pettit, Posada, Rivera, Jeter... They all came through the Columbus Clippers so I met most of them before they got big. Daryl Strawberry came through during his troubled years too lol.

When I was little I used to play with Rivera's kids. Being that my mom is Costa Rican she used to talk with the hispanic players. We got to know him and his wife fairly well. I was only 7 so I dont remember much other than playing at the ballpark and goin to the beach once. He moved up at the end of that year and that was the last time we saw them. Sorry for the digression, but it was pretty cool meeting them so easily at Clipper Stadium. Try that now and see how quickly your escorted away.

Re-Edit: I just found out it was lesser known Hensley Muelins we spent time with outside the park. With Mariano it was at the ballpark. He got the team to sign balls for us a lot. I wish I knew where they are. Lot of good guys on them. I'll have to look for them next time I go back home.

I'm a huge baseball fan, and although I really despise the Yankees/Red Sox, I've had a feeling all season that it's their year. I think Teixeira has really been the difference, keeping guys loose and such. Plus with Arod on a tear finally, they're gonna be tough to beat.

I see it going 7 though. Gonna be a whole bunch of runs scored, both stadiums are band boxes. Lee and CC pitching game 7, and a bunch of Indians fans with a lot of regret.

3 of the 4 players you mentioned came through the Yankees farm system. The Yankees do spend the most money, but here are 2 facts that most people don't realize...

1- Great players get get paid well. No matter where they started their career. Jeter, Posada, and Rivera get paid just as much as they would get paid if they started their careers else where.

2- The second top spending team is the Mets. They prove that money has nothing to do with winning.

I'm a die hard Yankees fan. I went to college with a lot of Phillies fans. My Facebook has been nothing but baseball insults for the past two weeks. On the extremely off chance that we lose, I'm never going to be able to talk to or see these people again. Phili fans are the worst. They're fucking talking about their "dynasty". You have won the World Series twice... ever. You don't even have the most baseball championships in Philadelphia. The Athletics played in Phili until 1955 and won it 5 times.

the playoffs games were spotty at best
the umps were horrible and i think the yankees got real lucky in a few games thanks to arod
it should be a good series to watch but i'm not putting money on the yanks

I can't wait to see Lee vs. CC. Personally I'm rooting for Lee because CC was terrible in the playoffs for Cleveland. It fucking pisses me off that he finally steps his game up once going to NY. I hate the Yankees. I don't hate the players, or fans, I hate that it's an institution that wins like on average 3 World Series every decade. Meanwhile they sap all the talent out of small markets like Cleveland. /rant

looks like our defending world champions shouldn't be labeled the underdog afterall....

Pedro FTW tonight :) Phils in 5

Yankess looked horrible swinging the bat....Not gonna lie here, Phillies look complete. Of course I hope they take the next 4

I really expected CC to shut down Philly last night. They had been off 6 days or whatever it was, and the majority of their big bats are lefties.

CC pitched well, Lee was basically unhittable.

I don't think Burnett and Pettite really scare anyone, and the middle relief was awful. Just 1 game, but Yanks fans should be concerned.

Minus 2 pitches, he pretty much did. Just proves how dangerous it is to hang a curve ball.

I HATE the Phillies, but Lee pitched an incredible game.

I'm really not concerned. Lee is the best weapon they have. The Yankees have hit Pedro before and the enitire NL has hit the rest of their pitching. Their relief pitching is a joke. None, not one, of my friends who is a Phillies fan talked shit before the game was over. Even they know that their relief can lose the biggest of leads.

The problem last night was that Joe Girardi wouldn't use our good relief if we weren't winning. Our relief can be amazing if used right. We barely even lose a game that were winning in the 7th.

We just have to hit. And we will tonight. Pedro doesn't scare me.

It pissed me off when the announcers said that Cleveland used to have both CC and Lee at the same time. Both were back to back Cy Young winners with Cleveland too. "they still have LeBron". Yea.. we'll see after this year.

He'll probably be in NY as well.

This is where the people that say baseball players are gonna get paid regardless of where they sign are wrong.

Yes, it is an open market, players are free to do as they please.

No, it's not a level playing field. If it were, Josh Beckett and Miguel Cabrera would still be in Florida, Lee, CC, and VMart would be in Cleveland, and Santana would be in Minnesota.

The simple fact is that NY and Boston decide what the market is gonna be, and the small market teams can't really compete and turn a profit.

I'm not complaining, the Tigers have been willing to spend for players, some with results and some without, but they do spend.

While I don't disagree with your statement, Utley hit 2 fastballs out.
Badly placed balls, ie right over the plate. I'm not even sure if they were fast balls. Weren't they hanging curve balls? IDK, I may just be drunk... Either way, right over the plate.

In the late 70s Steinbreiner bought the team when they sucked. He spent his own, personal money to get the right players there to draw crowds, win games, and create what is there today. Most owners can buy any player. It's their choice not to. The funniest thing is, Steinbreiner tried to by the Indians first. Oh well...

holy crap i bet pedro felt like crap last night after getting boo'ed of the field. sahme i was hoping he would then Yanks out.

ohh well. We see what happens in game 3

pedro pitched a game good enough to win 90% of games pitched. 2 runs in 6.3 is a pretty damn good world series game. especially against the yankees.

oh, and cliff lee. fucking retarded amount in the zone on wednesday. michael jordanesque.

did you see him catch that pop up on the mound. pitchers are NEVER supposed to catch a pop up. that is the 3rd baseman's ball. and he just stuck his glove out like it was nothing.

he's about to get paid. if they beat the yankees in the series, i wouldn't be surprised if he's wearing an NY uniform next year.
