While most of us don't really like the new insight, you gotta give it props for the real-world scores its seeing.

Code:
[B]Make[/B][B] Model [/B][B]EPA Combined [/B][B]FE Achieved [/B][B]% above EPA[/B]
Honda Insight-II 41 90.6 + 121
Lexus HS 250h3564.0 + 83
Toyota Prius-III 50 89.1 + 78
Audi Q7 20 28.3 + 42
Mercedes Benz S400 22 30.1 + 37

121% mpg achieved over stated mpg is awesome. 90.6MPG!

Fixed.

P.S. What's with the box?

Edit: Holy Shit! 90ish on both Honda and Toyota!?!?!

I'd still prefer a 1st gen.

It's because the "Eco Mode" isn't on by default in the Insight, so the EPA wouldn't test it that way and thus gave it bullshit numbers.

Here's the final try on a readable table:

:gives:

they are fucking hyper miling the damn things

that pulse acceleration they are talking about is when you blip the throttle to get up to speed, then coast it as far as you can until you need to blip the throttle again

its not hard to achieve high MPG numbers for a 5 or 10 mile route... hell there were times in my insight that i averaged 130+ for a matter of a few miles... and i wasnt driving like a fag to do it

hell people on the insight board i was on were getting lifetime averages up in the 90mpg range... there was a few of them competing to see who would be the first to clear a full tank (10.6gal) averaging 120+mpg

excuse me while i dont give a fuck about these ratings

Lol, I had no idea. I guess I should read the article completely.

I got a tank on the fit that was up at 65MPG by hypermilling. Pretty boring ride.

The eco mode on the Insight is simply a different calibration of the throttle by wire. You have to mash the pedal in far to get the car to do anything. At part throttle the pedal becomes much less sensitive. Many new cars come with this feature standard. Ever wonder why you always see Chevy commercials saying this car gets better highway mpg than the honda that? It's because the cars are programmed to force you to drive slow unless you are flooring the gas. The auto trannies in the newer GM and Fords shove you strait to 6th gear as quickly as possible and keeps you there. Makes for an awful driving experience IMO.
