ok honda has made me jump ship from neons to here in the quest for better handling, i race on 1/4 mile dirt oval and yesterday i bought a 91 accord with 5speed and f22a motor sohc, now what kind of performance does this car have compared to my neon and what do you guys suggest for cams or head swaps, keep in mind rules DO NOT ALLOW VTEC,,,, i know retarded but whatever, or if the motor is capable of some decent power would the tranny and motor fit into a 91 civic hatchback, cause i got the accord a extra motor and a gutted civic all as package deal, not bad for 180 bucks. you guys gave me some good advice for my buds integra and it helped out big time, one more question, the tranny in this accord is it the same gearing as the prelude since its the same motor block?

That engine will fit into the Civic, but it's not exactly a bolt-in affair. Check out Hasport's site for the mounts you'll need and instructions. As for the gearing, it's probably close, but not necessarily exactly the same. There were several different variants of that motor and transmission...

As far as the Accord engine into a Civic, just look up H-series mounts.

Preludes generally have shorter gearing than Accords.

With the F-series, you don't need VTEC or a head swap. The non-VTEC head(that on the F22A1 and of similar castings), flows better than the B-series head and is similar in design to the K-series head. That's the engine Bisi made over 400whp with, all-motor. Otherwise, many people are making about 120whp/135ft-lb tq with your standard bolt-ons. If you have an A1, something you can do is switch to a F22A4 header and A6 cam/intake manifold/ECU.

For a aftermarket cam, hit up Bisi( Bisimoto.com). He's pretty much the F-series guru and can grind and cam to specs that fit your needs.

ok gona stick with the accord for racing now, got cage in it and adjustable struts with coilovers, now i was at junkyard lookin around and found a 91 prelude, i took off the throttle body the head and the computer, i left the cam in the head so its the prelude cam, and it had header and the dual exhaust downpipe, im gona swap everything tonite before races tomorrow, will this give me any more horsepower or torque? keep in mind eventually im gona get hot cam and stuff but i only have more races and just wanted some cheap power for now.

If it was truly a 91 Prelude, then absolutely NONE of that stuff will fit on to your Accord's engine block. Next time, you may want to do some research into parts compatability before you open your wallet at the junkyard...

it wont bolt up? the 91 prelude or could be be 92 the mfg date on door said 91 but anyways the motor block code was the same as mine f22a1, and looking at the parts they looked they will fit, whats the problem with them not working if its the same engine code? i thought the prelude and accord had same drivetrain just little different cam and computer programming.

It was a 92 Prelude then. The 88-91 used a completely different engine series...

so if they are the same then is there any performance gain by using the prelude cam and throttle body and ecm, and the header that was on the prelude i took off too.

probably not if its from the same casting code lol

well according to the specs even tho they are the same motor the prelude supposely had a little more agressive cam and different tuned ecm, so either it does or instead of tryin to help people out you just like bein a ass, either way ur entitled to your opinion.
