i have a 1990 ls integra and am looking to do a swap due to my old worn engine that is about to die. i have been looking at the b18b and the b16a motors, im looking for a easy cheap swap and also a good dd and possible future turbo and track use for fun. so the questions i have are cons and pros of both swaps, i have heard its better to do b18b but im no good with wires. but i have heard if i do the b18b i dont have to do the conversion for obd1 i can just keep it obd0, is this true and if so is their big cons to it? i have researched the b16 and it is a downgrade i think as stock but im not looking to build yet so im mostly looking for the best stock motor. any help is good, thanks

you keep any engine obd0 if you want, it doesn't mean it's the best. all you really need is just to keep the old obd0 LS dizzy. it should bolt right up and you're good to go

if you're going to keep it stock for a while, I probably wouldn't go with the b16. I have that in my da and it doesn't have much torque at all, and I'm not running stock. If I were you, I would go b18 or b20, but keep it vtec for sure. It's amazing how much extra power it gives you.

the only other vtec is the b18c and im not looking to but that much into it yet, im in school so im looking cheap and i have read the b20 prelude motors are junk but the crv ones are nice but im just looking b16a or b18b for now cause i cant find a b18a

replacing it with a b16a would be more of an upgrade than a b18b, if you are planning on basic mods anyways. the top end kick of a b16a with cams and bolt ons is pretty fun.

if you want to go turbo, then you should just rebuild the engine you have with new pistons, rods, bearings, etc. get the head checked out and it will be a whole new motor ready for turbo.

i plan on doing a swap mostly so my car will continue to be usable, but i do plan on rebuilding my current motor and then swapping the b18b head on if i go that way
